Position / Title: Principal Firmware Engineer
Firmware Engineer
The Position:
Firmware engineer to act as a significant and primary contributor to our tight knit engineering team, developing our RF over Fiber (telecommunications) management equipment. This job offers a lot of autonomy, so you should be a self-starter and hands-on individual.
Responsibilities:
· Develop software and firmware for new products, product enhancement, and sustaining current microcontroller focused products
· Responsible for the design, development, debugging, and delivery of software products and services, including technical design, programming, unit testing, deployment, support, and maintenance.
- Design, develop, and document organized, easy to read and maintain software source code
- Maintain and extend an existing company code base and architecture, contributing to the longevity of the company’s IP
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of cross functional and related technical areas such as software quality techniques, software configuration management, and release management
- Participate in engineering project reviews, as a subject matter expert
Must Have
- Experience with Microcontrollers, their IDE, and Peripherals (Memory, I2C, UART, ADCs, DACs, Linker Scripts, I2C)
- Experience and proficiency in C for microcontrollers
- Experience engineering and debugging legacy and new code
- Familiar with basic electrical engineering equipment and principles (DMMs, Oscilloscopes, schematics, digital and analog)
- Familiar with software engineering tools, processes, and principles (UML, Documentation, Testing)
- Computer Science or related engineering degree (STEM)
- Good communication skills and ability to work in collaborative environment.
- Flexibility and ability to acquire competence (learn) in new fields
- US Citizen or Permanent US Residency Status

- Python, VHDL, Labview, Linux, Networking
- Experience in Fiber Optic or RF technologies
- 8051 SiLabs, Freescale, and PIC32 Microcontrollers
