Full-Time Optometric Assistant/Technician – Allen, TX Allen Eyecare Center

Position Overview

Allen Eyecare Center is hiring a Full-Time Optometric Assistant / Technician to support our doctors and patient care team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both patient interaction and hands-on clinical work in a medical office environment.

You’ll work closely with doctors while helping patients through testing, workups, education, and exam preparation.

Key Responsibilities

Perform pre-testing and diagnostic testing including autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging, visual acuity testing, and visual fields

Accurately document medical history, medications, and patient information in the EHR

Prepare patients for exams and assist doctors during clinic flow

Educate patients on treatments, testing, and follow-up care

Clean, maintain, and sanitize clinical equipment and exam rooms

Support efficient patient flow in a busy optometry clinic

Assist with contact lens training and patient education as needed

Qualifications

Experience in optometry, ophthalmology, medical assisting, or healthcare preferred but not required

Strong communication and patient-care skills

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical environment

Detail-oriented and dependable

Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Preferred Experience

Optometry industry experience

Scribing or EHR documentation experience

Knowledge of ophthalmic testing equipment

Contact lens experience
