Job Summary We are seeking an experienced, dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical services, providing exceptional customer care while assisting patients in selecting and fitting eyewear. This role requires a combination of clinical knowledge, sales skills, and familiarity with medical billing and records. The Optician will work closely with both patients and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal vision solutions.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescription and lifestyle needs.
• Fit and adjust eyeglasses and contact lenses to ensure proper comfort and functionality.
• Maintain accurate patient records, including medical billing information and optical systems data.
• Provide education to patients regarding eyewear care, usage, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists and optometrists to facilitate patient care.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information.
• Stay updated on the latest trends in eyewear fashion and technology to provide informed recommendations.
• Perform routine maintenance on optical equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a clinic or retail sales environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical billing processes and management of medical records is advantageous.
• Familiarity with optical systems, including lens types, frames, and fitting techniques.
• Understanding of basic anatomy related to vision care is beneficial.
• Proficiency in aseptic techniques to maintain cleanliness in the clinical setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.

Work Location: Texas State Optical - Champions, 5774 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston Texas 77069.

Our office hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. We are closed on Sunday and you will have an additional day off during the week based upon the needs of the practice. Those who are not available during these work times will not be considered for our position.
