Job Summary Laguna Eyes Optometry has been providing concierge level care to our community for almost 50 years. We pride ourselves in utilizing current technology and premier products for our patient care and eyewear provision. Quality customer service and attention to detail are critical to our legacy.
We are looking for a full-time optician to help provide this care to our community. As an Optician, you will get to know our patients to learn about their lifestyle and needs, take facial measurements, and help them pick out eyewear and contact lenses based on their specific requirements. You will also help them learn about their new products, explain pricing and insurance coverage, and follow all HIPPA and confidentiality regulations closely. This position requires strong understanding of the lenses and lens enhancements, lensometry, and proper laboratory submission techniques. The ideal candidate has exceptional customer service skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and in-depth knowledge of the inner workings of an optometrist’s office. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have strong understanding of contact lenses and will manage contact lens ordering.
All opticians and technicians work as a team in our front office managing phone calls, patient care and office cleanliness in addition to their specific role responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Meet and talk with patients to learn their needs for eyewear
Make suggestions on frames, and assist patients in choosing the best option for them
Take facial measurements to ensure a perfect frame fit
Prepare specific orders for the ophthalmic lab
Explain pricing, insurance, and payment options to the patient thoroughly
Verify accuracy of incoming ophthalmic lab orders
Assist in pre- and post-examination care of the patient
Maintain office and optical shop organization and cleanliness
Operate under all HIPPA and confidentiality regulations
Qualifications
Previous opticianry experience mandatory
Must be available to work occasional Saturdays
