Job Summary
We are under new front office management and are seeking an experienced Optician to join our friendly team! Laguna Eyes Optometry has been serving our community for over 45 years. It is an office that prides itself in utilizing current technology and premier products for our patient care and eyewear provision. Quality customer service and attention to detail is critical to our legacy.
As an Optician, you will speak with patients to learn about their lifestyle and needs, take facial measurements, and help them pick out eyewear and contact lenses based on their specific requirements. You will also help them learn about their new products, explain pricing and insurance coverage, and follow all HIPPA and confidentiality regulations closely. This position requires strong understanding of the lenses and lens enhancements, manual lensometry, and proper laboratory submission techniques. The ideal candidate has exceptional customer service skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and in-depth knowledge of the inner workings of an optometrist’s office. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have strong understanding of managing a lab with an opportunity to edge lenses in-office.
This role will be one that also has some assistant management responsibilities, including some oversight over other opticians within the office. All opticians and technicians work as a team in our front office managing phone calls, patient care and office cleanliness in addition to their specific role responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Meet and talk with patients to learn their needs for eyewear
Make suggestions on frames, and assist patients in choosing the best option for them
Take facial measurements to ensure a perfect frame fit
Prepare specific orders for the ophthalmic lab
Explain pricing, insurance, and payment options to the patient thoroughly
Verify accuracy of incoming ophthalmic lab orders
Assist in pre- and post-examination care of the patient
Maintain office and optical shop organization and cleanliness
Operate under all HIPPA and confidentiality regulations
Qualifications
Previous optometrist’s experience desired
Must be available to work some Saturdays
Must be able to stand on feet for half of your day
Strong comfort with technology
Critical Attention to detail
Strong ability to multi-task in a busy environment
License with the state desired
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong understanding of HIPPA
Strong customer service skills
