    We are seeking a dedicated, team-oriented, and knowledgeable Optical Technician/Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a background in optometry and retail sales, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service while assisting patients in selecting eyewear that meets their needs, as well as other office-administrative roles to support the operation. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of optical products, medical terminology, and the ability to work efficiently with other employees in a clinical setting.

    Duties

    Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescription, visual needs, and personal preferences.

    Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and enhancements, such as anti-reflective coatings, polarized lenses, and progressive lenses.

    Take precise measurements, including pupillary distance, segment height, and fitting heights, to accurately order and dispense eyewear.

    Verify and interpret optical prescriptions, ensuring accuracy in lens fabrication and prescription filling.

    Adjust and repair eyewear as needed, including frame adjustments, replacing nose pads, and repairing minor damages.

    Maintain accurate and organized patient records, including prescription details, measurements, and order history.

    Provide styling consultations: face shape, lifestyle needs, personal brand, comfort preferences

    Patient intake and outtake, screening patients, pretesting, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance, as needed;

    Maintain accurate EMR's of patient care, condition, progress, concerns and medical history;

    Manage frame, contact lens trials, optometric medication, office material, and inventory of all patient care supplies;

    Review prescriptions and/or patient information carefully and identify special needs.

    Perform necessary billing associated with any medical procedure or optical service provided;

    Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and HIPAA regulations.

    Experience Candidates should have experience or knowledge in the following areas:

    Optometric practices and procedures.

    Experience working in a medical office setting with administrative functions.

    Retail sales experience, particularly in optical or healthcare settings.

    Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology concepts.

    Experience with medical/optometric coding and billing processes is preferred.
