    Optimal Living Services(OLS) is looking for a full time Peer Support Specialist who will be located in Lexington to provide recovery support services to our clients in our Intensive Outpatient Program living in recovery housing.

    The ideal person will be enthusiastic, extremely well organized and passionate in working closely with people in recovery. They should be passionate advocates for sustained recovery.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    Provide recovery support to people with substance use disorder with a focus on reintegrating clients into society.

    Maintain reports and records.

    Assist with teaching clients how to maintain a safe and clean living environment.

    Provide recovery education to participants for every phase of the recovery journey from recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance.

    Provide a model for both people in recovery and staff by demonstrating that recovery is possible.

    Assist recovering persons to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths and weaknesses regarding recovery.

    Actively identify and support linkages to community resources (communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self-help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the recovering person’s goals and interests.

    Identify barriers (internal and external) to full participation in community resources and developing strategies to overcome those barriers.

    Connect participants to a larger community of care.

    Other duties as directed by Operations Manager and/or other management staff.

    Qualifications:

    Certified as a Peer Support Specialist and adhering to certification standards, including a minimum of a year of sustained recovery.

    Understanding of a recovery process and actively participating in a recovery program.

    Familiarity with local support services, resources and recovery community.

    Capability of building an effective PSS-recoveree relationship.

    Demonstrated skill in actively listening, asking good questions, awareness of self and treating people as resources.

    Understanding of and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.

    Cross-cultural skills, and experience with culturally diverse populations.

    Strong customer service ethic essential.

    Requirements

    High School Diploma or GED

    PSS Certification or Registered PSS

    Basic knowledge of computer skills

    Reliable transportation required.

    Ability to work within a variety of settings.

    Availability to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.
