    Your impact (grow it!): You will be responsible for establishing and scaling Optiwatt’s business development division from near scratch, using your deep experience in the energy and/or automotive industry with a scrappy sales mentality to grow a network of partnerships with utilities, community choice aggregators, retail electric providers, vehicle manufacturers, and much more . As head of business development at Optiwatt, you will drive our revenue streams upwards towards reinvestment and profitability as we work to connect 1,000,000 electric vehicles to our flexible energy supply, directly reducing CO2 emissions and preventing grid blackouts. You will grow and manage a small team of driven sales staff who are hungry to make an impact on our customers and the planet. We will look to you for business leadership in either the utility or automotive industry, leveraging the connections you build to enhance electrification across the country and (occasionally) the globe. You will lead negotiation and construction of many multi-million dollar deals over several month sales cycles, shaping the future of Optiwatt's monetization strategy and growing yourself within our organization. This is an opportunity to claim ownership and responsibility over nearly all of a growth-stage startup’s inbound capital.     Here’s some exciting stuff you'll be working on:

    1. Grow and manage a team of sales development representatives and account executives to sell services across electric utilities, electric vehicle manufacturers, and third-party energy or data providers
    2. Identify value propositions that will resonate with specific customers to enhance sales effectiveness and revise or add to product offerings
    3. Refine our SaaS and lump sum pricing models across B2B offerings and clients to generate more interest and close deals
    4. Evaluate and select best channel and go-to-market strategies that leverage Optiwatt’s growing user base to maximize revenue
    5. Pitch multi-million dollar proposals virtually or in-person with confidence and industry understanding to close deals
    6. Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships
    7. Coordinate efforts with sales team members and other departments
    8. Analyze territory and market potential, track sales, and provide status reports
    9. Supply our leadership with reports on business development problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
    10. Keep abreast of best practices and promotional trends
    11. Continuously improve through feedback, as an individual, team, and organization
    12. Represent Optiwatt’s ethics, mission, and values with the highest level of integrity

    Requirements:You are someone who is….

    1. Excited to work on any of the following; electric vehicles, the electric grid, technology, climate change reduction
    2. Proven through past multi-million dollar deal flow in sales, business development, or related fields within the utility or automotive industry 
    3. Comfortable with a variety of productivity tools, including excellent knowledge of MS Office and Google Workspace
    4. Knowledgeable on best BRM and CRM practices, with the ability to manage a team to build productive business professional relationships
    5. Highly motivated, target driven, with a proven track record in sales and a desire to grow yourself within Optiwatt by pulling in work that excites you
    6. Excellent in demonstrating sales, negotiation, and communication skills under pressure
    7. Organized in prioritization, communication, and time management
    8. Capable of creating and delivering awe-inspiring presentations tailored to B2B audiences
    9. A natural communicator, able to process customer information, establish rapport, and appreciate feedback
    10. Educated, with a minimum of an advanced degree in business administration (MBA) plus 4 years of work experience OR a bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of work experience (exceptions made for deep industry experience or a proven track record of scrappy success)

    Shine with us The salary range for this job is $105,000 to $200,000, plus equity and commission compensation dependent on experience.
