OPTOGLO – HR COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST
ABOUT THE COMPANY:
OptoGlo, founded in 2014 and based in Leominster, MA, is a pioneering, rapidly growing venture company that seeks to “illuminate the world with exceptional solar signs.” The company is well capitalized with backing from Morningside Ventures (Cambridge, MA) and has a strong pipeline of blue-chip B2B customers seeking to capitalize on OptoGlo’s proprietary technology to increase visibility, reduce costs, and reduce carbon footprint.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop and implement specific safety policies and programs. Maintain technical proficiency and serve as plant resource for EH&S compliance. Develop and deliver effective safety training programs to employees and management. Provide technical guidance on complex safety issues to Production and Manufacturing leaders and other functional teams to attain compliance.
· Coordinate compliance inspections of safety procedures, equipment, and programs to ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements and risk reduction management. Report on findings and work with plant management to develop action plans to address deficiencies. Support plant management and other safety staff to ensure action plans are implemented and the necessary follow up occurs. Review new equipment installation designs and plans for compliance to established standards such as OSHA and ANSI.
· Given the high growth aspirations of the company, assist the Director of People & Culture on all aspects of future talent sourcing, screening, onboarding, and development.
· Identifies and applies for Local, State, and Federal Training Grants and Funds to offset training costs.
· Independently execute investigation and analysis of incidents to identify root cause, and to verify satisfactory completion of corrective actions. Initiate appropriate corrective and preventative action plans, communicate findings, and follow-up to verify effective results of corrective actions.
· Coordinate employee safety and first aid training. Create and implement training programs and informational materials as required to convey safety policies and procedures for new hire onboarding, on-going regulatory requirements, and specialized training.
· Build and manage a First Aid team and prepare documents as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum 5 years experience in human resources management, preferably including a manufacturing/plant environment
· Knowledge of HR laws, regulations, procedures in small business environment
· Outstanding knowledge of federal, state, and local occupational safety industry regulations and guidelines (OSHA, EPA, other)
· Demonstrated ability to independently resolve wide array of grievances/disputes
· Passion to build a community and culture
· Ability to be highly independent and work in fast-paced, ambiguous environment with changing company goals/objectives. Flexibility is key in this role as priorities change quickly.
