Summary
The Optometric Technician / Medical Assistant supports Community Health Net's Optometry Clinic by performing administrative and clinical duties under the supervision of the Medical Services Coordinator and medical providers. Responsibilities include patient registration, scheduling, EHR documentation, and assisting providers with diagnostic testing and procedures. This role is critical in ensuring efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative Duties:
Clinical Duties:
Assess physical conditions of patients to aid diagnosis or treatment.
Administers injections, immunizations, and associated quality controls as directed by Community Health Net Medical Provider.
Performs testing procedures such as but not limited to; patient urine dipstick, rapid strep, fecal occult blood test, and urine pregnancy test.
Document patient information and exam information and exam findings correctly into the electronic health record system (EHR).
Immediately report abnormal testing procedure results to appropriate medical personnel.
Assist Nurses and Medical Providers with medical procedures as needed.
Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with clinical standards.
Prepare, sterilize, and clean patient treatment rooms for use.
Clean and cover all equipment daily according to manufacture instructions.

Qualifications/Requirements
GED or high school diploma required.
Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
1-year experience as an Optometry Technician preferred.
Knowledge of and adherence to infection control protocols.
Experience working in eye care setting.
Experience working with a diverse population.
Ability to use computers and Windows based software to enter data and develop reports as needed.
Must be responsible, precise, and organized.
Knowledge of medical terminology required.
