  • Responsibilities

    Oral Surgeon or Surgical Periodontist — 1 Day per Month
    Oklahoma City Metro, OK | Contract / 1099 | Friday or Saturday, once a month

    A well-run, owner-operated private general practice in the Oklahoma City metro is adding one dedicated surgical day each month. The owner is looking for an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon or a surgically oriented Periodontist who is current and comfortable with IV sedation, implant placement, and surgical extraction of impacted third molars.

    This is a clean add-on day, not a full-time associateship. The practice runs general dentistry on weekdays and is available Friday or Saturday for a visiting specialist. Choose one Friday per month or one Saturday per month. The owner will work with your calendar.

    The work

    • IV sedation cases
    • Dental implant placement (single-unit and multi-unit; grafting as indicated)
    • Surgical extraction of impacted third molars
    • Related hard-tissue procedures that fit a one-day surgical block

    Cases will be pre-screened by the general dentist so the day is scheduled, not scavenged.

    The practice

    • Owner-operated private GP — not a DSO
    • 5 operatories
    • 1 general dentist + 1 highly productive hygienist with assisted hygiene
    • Oryx practice management software
    • Vatech PaX-i3D Smart 3D imaging on site (pano + 3D volume for implant and surgical planning)
    • Established patient base with surgical demand the owner does not want leaving the practice

    How you can work — your choice

    • Turnkey / guest doctor: Bring your own surgical assistant(s), equipment, and supplies. Use the operatories and imaging.
    • Practice-supported: The practice provides assisting staff, room, and supplies.
    • Hybrid: Common when you want your own assistant and the practice stocks disposables and implants.

    Schedule

    • One day per month to start
    • Friday or Saturday — candidate's choice
    • Room to grow the day or add a second day if the book fills
    • No evenings; no weekday GP-schedule conflict

    What you need

    • DDS or DMD
    • Completed OMFS residency — or — Periodontics residency with a current surgical implant and impacted-third practice
    • Unrestricted Oklahoma dental license, or willingness to obtain one before the first day
    • Current DEA and Oklahoma CDS as required for IV sedation
    • Documented, current competency in IV moderate/deep sedation in an outpatient dental setting
    • Active implant practice (systems flexible; disclose what you place)
    • Comfortable surgically removing full-bony and partial-bony impacted third molars
    • Malpractice coverage appropriate to IV sedation and implant surgery (or ability to add a rider for this location)

    Nice to have

    • Board certification (ABOMS or ABP)
    • Existing OKC-metro or regional presence
    • Comfortable in Oryx, or willing to work from an exported surgical schedule
    • Interest in a longer-term visiting-specialist relationship

    Compensation
    Flexible and discussed with qualified candidates. Daily guarantee, collections split, or a hybrid — depending on whether you staff and supply the day yourself.
