Head Coach Job Description

The Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) Head Coach role in EAST NASHVILLE is responsible for providing leadership and daily direction to their studio specific fitness team, with a strong focus on customer service, fitness leadership, member sales and member retention. The Head Coach works in tandem with the Studio Manager to ensure ALL class participants and members enjoy a consistent and energized Orangetheory Fitness experience. The Head Coach is responsible for delivering scientifically pre-designed workouts for up to 39 clients per session and focus’ on a well-rounded theory of fitness, including endurance, strength, power using the tools and equipment provided to optimize the participant’s experience and results.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Create a positive, high energy, and respectful OTF studio environment.

2. Manage, educate, and develop the studio’s fitness team through approved training curriculum, proper feedback, and appropriate leadership.

3. Assist in the training and development of new and current coaches.

4. Ensure cleanliness of fitness equipment and training floor.

5. Assists with the marketing, community outreach, and studio in-reach to grow the organizational member clientele.

6. Develop coaching schedule – daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.

7. Assist sales team with follow up communication with prospective, new, current, and former members.

8. Meet weekly with Studio Manager to discuss studio performance, sales, and operations.

9. Assist in handling member concerns in a professional and objective manner with the goal of resolution.

10. Hold monthly fitness staff meetings to discuss KPIs, next month’s templates and growth opportunities for the studio and coaches

11. Instruct a minimum of 15 classes per week – early AM, evening, mid and 1 weekend per month

12. Assist sales staff with studio tours/sales of prospective members; staying up to date with pricing of membership packages.

13. Host OTF approved special events, member workshops, and coach continuing education courses.

14. Maintain active employee files, including fitness certifications and CPR certifications.

15. Maintain equipment and preventative maintenance logs.

16. Must be available in case of a studio emergency (i.e., coach no show).

17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

· OTF Certification and experience required

· Bachelor’s Degree in an exercise field or equivalent work experience

· Current personal training or primary group exercise instructor certification from one of the following nationally accredited certification programs: ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NASM, NSCA

· Intermediate to advanced level knowledge of physiology, exercise technique, and body mechanics

· Experience training individuals through functional training techniques

· Experience in a group exercise training setting preferred
