The Oregano's home office is seeking a Controller to work closely with the President and parent company Chief Financial Officer, serving as the driving force behind our Finance Team. This position requires exceptional organizational, administrative, and presentation skills to plan, organize, direct and control functions of the company and report results. Our Controller will thrive in a flat, entrepreneurial environment, showcasing the ability to adapt quickly to new challenges and opportunities and excel in communication. This person will interact with various functions within the Leadership Team, District Managers, Restaurant Managers, and on occasion with our dedicated team of over 1,100 members.

Controller Duties:

• Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting functions within the company, reporting to the President and parent company Chief Financial Officer.
• Manages a team of five, and is responsible for hiring, training and retaining staff via a leadership style that creates and fosters an environment of trust and productivity.
• Developing, evaluating and maintaining effective internal controls to protect company assets, policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP as well as federal, state and local standards.
• Coordination of monthly general ledger closing processes (including developing and maintaining procedures for):
  • Third party delivery reconciliation and payments
  • Sales tax
  • Property tax
  • Payroll and payables
  • Inventory
  • Gift cards
  • Fixed assets
  • Data integrations
• Supervision of monthly restaurant PL and company financial statement preparation.
• Administration of third-party platforms:
  • Great Plains (GL and Management Reporter)
  • Paycom payroll
  • Gift cards
  • Paycard system
  • POS cloud database and reporting (Compeat Radar)
  • Dropbox
• Supervision and assistance in annual budget process.
• Administration of all company licensing and permitting.
• Other financial reporting and account analysis as needed to provide management with information necessary for the decision-making process.
• Participates in annual external audit, lease administration, risk management and office management.

Controller Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business.
• CPA required.
• 10+ years relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of all daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting functions.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Strong Knowledge and understanding of GAAP required.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are key.
• Experience managing diverse teams, including skills in coaching, mentoring, and developing others.
• Some knowledge and experience in systems thinking – understanding the whole and its related parts.
• Ability to work in a hands-on way to understand the various components of the accounting function.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Maintains strict confidentiality and adhere to a high standard of professional conduct.
• Technology proficient, including but not limited to MS Office, Paycom, etc.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• Ability to sit at a desk or computer for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in an office environment.
