    The Position

    We are currently looking to add a Nurse Practitioner to our team (PRN/on-call) to help with coverage for vacation, sick, extra admissions etc. Most shifts are on the weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun), but shifts during the week may also occur.

    The Nurse Practitioner will oversee and implement medical care to patients in our medical/detox unit and to the residential and extended care facilities.

    The responsibilities of the Nurse Practitioner include but are not limited to the following:

    Provides physical assessment, diagnosis and treatment for acute illnesses or injuries sustained while in treatment.

    Prescribes appropriate detox per criteria, justifies in writing in the medical record variation from established protocol.

    Reviews patient medical information from referring facilities to ensure completeness and to identify needs for ongoing care

    Provides routine medical care to current patients as needed and make referrals to specialists when needed.

    Orders diagnostic tests, including blood work and x-rays, with interpretation and follow up

    Communicates medical concerns to the Medical Director or patient’s physician and/psychiatrist and follow-up as indicated

    Works with the clinical team to incorporate medical issues into treatment planning

    Verifies new patients’ admission medications and enter into med log and clinical record when ordered by the physician.

    Evaluates the effectiveness, development, compliance, side effects and contra-indications of drug therapy.

    Demonstrate knowledge of women’s specific issues, older adult specific issues, men’s specific issues, co-morbidity issues, pain management.

    Records known allergies, records history of disease and injury and review of current symptoms, records family history, records dietary preference.

    The Qualifications

    Currently licensed as ARNP in Florida.

    Current CPR/First Aid training/certification.

    Experience in the drug/alcohol treatment field highly desired.

    Possess a working knowledge of addictions with age specific patient populations.

    Working knowledge of personal computers and basic software.

    Experience documenting in an EMR

    If the candidate is in recovery, two (2) years of continuous sobriety is preferred.
