    Job Description

    Orion Managed Services, LLC. (Orion) is hiring a safety program manager. This is a full-time, salaried position. Some over-time and weekend work may be required. The position requires the ability to travel on a 25 to 50 percent basis, as business needs may dictate. Qualified individuals will hold Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Tree Safety Professional (CTSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist, Process Safety Management Professional (PSMP), Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt (LSS) or related certifications.

    Successful applicants will have direct experience with heavy civil construction, demolition, and industrial services. Ideal candidates will possess prior safety experience in the energy and power sectors and shall be expert at safety governance for field services companies, including those with linear assets. Candidates shall demonstrate at least 10 years overall experience as a safety professional and 5-years of experience in the design and implementation of corporate safety programs, reporting and development of corporate safety culture, standards, procedures and policies. Ideal candidates shall also be able to demonstrate experience leading and facilitating multi-disciplinary cause analyses and safety incident reviews related to heavy industrial and linear projects, field operations, and driving safety. This individual will provide direct oversight and guidance to field safety professionals.

    Responsibilities include: Oversight and maintenance of safety certification platforms (i.e., ISNetworld), identification and tracking of safety training requirements, development and update of project health and safety plans and job aids, development and update of company injury and illness prevention plan and RAV’s files, and management of company safety observation, near-miss, incident reporting and corrective action programs.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Four-year BS degree in engineering, industrial hygiene, sciences, construction management, or related field
    • Driver’s license
    • Certified Safety Professional, Certified Tree Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Process Safety Management Professional, Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt, or related certifications and experience
    • Bow-tie analyses, Ishikawa analyses, Human Factors, and related experience.
    • Mastery of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related software tools
    • At least 5-years of experience leading cause investigations and root cause analyses
    • At least 5-years of experience providing safety oversight and management of heavy civil, demolition, and other industrial projects
    • Knowledge of safety procedures for operations, maintenance, and construction of high-voltage electrical equipment, including generation, transmission, distribution and substation assets
    • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to resolve problems, and to work with staff and utility customers effectively.
    • Covid 19 response, contact tracing (requires knowledge of federal, state local and client protocol, interface with HR with respect to CA labor laws.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience developing and updating safety standards, policy, and procedure documents
    • Prior experience providing corporate or program safety governance
    • Experience with OSHA, OSHA reporting and records keeping requirements
    • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
    • Ability to periodically travel overnight
    • Ability to work over-time and occasionally to work weekends
    • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hr. cert.
    • Current First Aid and CPR certificate

    DESIRED:

    • Master’s degree in business administration, engineering, or related scientific field
    • Familiarity with CAL OSHA Title 8 High-Voltage Electrical Safety Orders
    • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification
    • Project Management Professional Certificate (PMP)
