    Job Description

    Our Client offers a full range of logistics deliverables and solutions. We are partnering up with them on their search for a Vice President of Logistics.

    The Vice President of Logistics will be responsible for providing strategic and operational direction for a high volume, multi-shift 3PL crossdock complex. You will be overseeing all functions to ensure timely and accurate processes while operating at optimum efficiency. Furthermore, you will be developing and implementing processes and reports to ensure compliance with policies/procedures and employee initiatives to create and promote an environment where all employees are involved and committed to success.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead the organization’s cross dock technology and process initiatives.
    • Coach supervisors and team members in identifying KPI’s, targeting opportunities for improvement, adopting best practices, and leveraging technology to apply improvement initiatives successfully.
    • Participate in the recruitment and hiring process to ensure staffing levels are maintained with quality talent.
    • Provide leadership and direct reports in positions that maximize and optimize resources in support of the company’s goals and objectives.
    • Work with outside fleets and independent contractor drivers to execute pickups and deliveries.
    • Create and implement staffing strategies to ensure work force is flexible and can respond to variations in workflow.
    • Guarantee that performance and profitability goals are set and accomplished.
    • Collaborate with employees to communicate and educate on work instructions, policies, procedures, and process improvement initiatives.
    • Guarantee standardization and sharing of best-demonstrated practices across the organization.
    • Ensure the company’s physical assets are properly managed, protected, and utilized.
    • Develop process improvements to continually improve operational efficiencies.
    • Provide excellent customer service to customers and internal partners.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Travel as needed to customers, corporate offices, and field locations.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • 5 years of management experience in a high-volume cross dock or distribution center operation.
    • Strong command of HOS, ELDs, and history managing local fleets.
    • Prior experience working with owner operator drivers and Class A driver fleets.
    • Excellent customer-facing and negotiation skills.
    • Experience in pricing and contract negotiations.
    • Ability to develop and maintain positive employee, customer, and cross-functional team relations.
    • Ensure compliance with Company, OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
    • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to drive results.
    • Strong technical skills including use of data analytics to measure and manage KPI’s, productivity, and profitability.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to effectively promote and lead change.
