    Required Qualifications

    Completion of a DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) or DMD (Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry) degree from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

    Completion of an accredited orthodontic residency program.

    Obtain and maintain an active California dental license issued by the Dental Board of California.

    Successfully pass the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE Parts I and II or INBDE), a clinical examination accepted in California (e.g., WREB or ADEX), and the California Dental Law and Ethics Examination.

    Maintain professional liability (malpractice) insurance.

    Complete required continuing education (CE)—currently, 50 units every two years, including mandatory courses such as infection control, California dental practice act, and BLS.

    CPR/BLS Certification from an American Heart Association or equivalent provider.

    Radiography Certification approved by the California Dental Board.

    Knowledge of California Dental Practice Act

    Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred.

    Detail-oriented with strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

    Clinical proficiency in a broad range of general dental procedures.

    Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and dental imaging systems.

    Excellent communication, organization, and patient care skills.

    Job Responsibilities (Aligned with CDA and State Guidelines) Conduct thorough orthodontic examinations, including cephalometric and panoramic imaging, digital scans, and photographs.

    Diagnose malocclusions, dental crowding, spacing, skeletal discrepancies, and functional issues.

    Develop and present individualized, evidence-based orthodontic treatment plans to patients.

    Place and adjust fixed and removable orthodontic appliances, including braces, aligners, expanders, and retainers.

    Monitor treatment progress, make timely adjustments, and maintain detailed records.

    Educate patients and parents about oral hygiene, appliance care, and dietary considerations during treatment.

    Manage orthodontic emergencies, such as broken brackets or wires, effectively and promptly.

    Collaborate with general dentists, oral surgeons, periodontists, and other specialists when interdisciplinary care is indicated.

    Maintain compliance with infection control protocols, OSHA/CDC standards, and HIPAA regulations.

    Document all examinations, treatments, and patient communications accurately in electronic dental records (EDRs).

    Stay current on advancements in orthodontic techniques, materials, and digital technologies through continuing education.

    Maintain a professional, compassionate, and ethical approach to patient care.
