Orthopedic Physician Assistant – Spine
About the Position
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician Assistant (PA) to join our surgical team specializing in orthopedic spine surgery. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both the operating room and clinic setting, with advanced knowledge of spine pathology and the ability to interpret advanced imaging and formulate appropriate treatment plans or surgical recommendations.

Responsibilities
Serve as first assist in the operating room for all procedures.
Conduct preoperative and postoperative evaluations and manage comprehensive patient care.
Perform office-based evaluations, including history, physical exams, and assessment of spine-related conditions.
Order appropriate laboratory or diagnostic studies such as but not limited to EMG, CT, MRI and x-ray examinations.
Interpret advanced imaging studies such as MRI, CT, and X-ray, and provide appropriate treatment plans or surgical recommendations based on clinical findings.
Collaborate with surgeon in case review, operative planning, and patient consultations.
Manage inpatient and outpatient care, including hospital rounds, progress notes, and discharge planning.
Educate patients regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and long-term care management.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current NCCPA certification and state license.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in orthopedic spine surgery, neurosurgery, or a related surgical specialty.
Proven experience as a first assist in orthopedic spine surgery or neurosurgery.
Strong proficiency in office-based orthopedic care, including independent patient evaluation and follow-up management.
Ability to interpret advanced imaging (MRI, CT) and develop appropriate treatment plans or surgical recommendations.
Excellent clinical judgment, attention to detail, and communication skills.
Prior work in a high-volume orthopedic or neurosurgical practice.
Culturally sensitive and demonstrated ability for working with ethnically diverse populations.
