    JOB SUMMARY:

    This administrative clerical services position uses some subject-matter knowledge and judgment to complete assignments consisting of numerous steps varying in nature and sequence.  The General Clerk III selects from alternative methods and refers problems not solvable by adapting or interpreting substantive guides, manuals, or procedures.

    JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assisting in a variety of administrative matters
    • Maintaining a wide variety of financial or other records (stored both manually and electronically)
    • Verifying statistical reports for accuracy and completeness
    • Compiling information
    • Handling and adjusting complaints
    • Assist employees statewide with all requests via walk-in, telephone or email request. (To include but not limited to, files to be delivered in person on-site within NVSO and via FedEx for off-site locations.)
    • Ship and retrieve official records from Federal Records Center (FRC) and National Archives Records Administration (NARA)
    • Create, barcode, file, and track case files at the Nevada State Office location using automated file tracking systems. (Provide remote assistance to the District Offices throughout the state for these functions when questions about the systems arise.)
    • Provides on-the-job training and user assistance to Information Access Center
    • Responsible for the creation, maintenance, retrieving, and proper handling of official records
    • Monitors and reports on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor's instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met.

     

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • 2-3 years of administrative clerk experience required

    EDUCATION, SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS

    • Intermediate to Expert-level experience with Microsoft Office to include, but not limited to, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Interaction with BLM staff, management, customers, (internal and external). And others
    • Ability to safely bend, lift and carry items that weigh up to 50 pounds of weight on less than a weekly basis
    • Ability to research, interpret and implement bureau policies and procedures
    • Preferred knowledge of Bureau of Land Management’s LR2000 records management system
