    Position Summary:

    The Bible Engagement Researcher will focus on conducting qualitative and quantitative research in the field of "Bible Engagement" with a specific emphasis on contributing to peer-reviewed publications.


    Essential Functions:

    1. Assist in the designing, planning, and executing of research projects related to the ongoing research efforts of ODBM with various stakeholders using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methodologies to gather insightful data and valuable insights. This includes the implementation of specific tools and apps created by the Ministry for use within the specific contexts.
    2. Employ appropriate qualitative and quantitative techniques to collect and analyze data and report on practices, trends, and outcomes.
    3. Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and other relevant public consumption outlets.
    4. Work closely with other stakeholders, researchers, and scholars to contribute to ongoing collaborative research initiatives across the global spectrum of our work. This specifically includes collaboration with researchers from Back to the Bible as part of our continued partnership together.
    5. Present research findings in relevant and digestible ways to various stakeholders in a variety of contexts and promote the "Bible Engagement" movement as a whole.
    6. Keep abreast of the latest developments, trends, and advancements in the field of "Bible Engagement" and related areas of study and regularly report on these two key stakeholders.

    Study or Knowledge or Experience:

    • Doctorates degree in a relevant field (e.g., Religious Studies, Theology, Social Sciences, Psychology, or related disciplines) required. Specialization in Bible Engagement or a closely related area preferred.
    • Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies is essential. Experience in mixed-methods and statistical analysis preferred.
    • Proven track record of publishing research in reputable, peer-reviewed journals and demonstrated knowledge of academic publishing procedures.
    • Solid understanding of the principles and practices of the "Bible Engagement" movement and a genuine interest in advancing its impact on individuals and communities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex research findings in a clear and engaging manner.
    • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and to foster productive relationships with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and from around the world.
    • Proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving, with the ability to draw meaningful conclusions from research data. Ability to meaningfully use tools such as Google Analytics, Hotjar, SEMrush, Tableau etc. to extract data and make inferences.
    • Assist in defining and refining the operational persona of various aspects of the ministry.
    • Effective time management skills to meet project deadlines and balance multiple research tasks and be able to work in collaborative networking tools such as Asana, Slack, Mural, Miro and more.
    • Strive to live a life consistent with Biblical principles, engaged with the Bible on a consistent basis and demonstrate continued growth and spiritual development.

    Internal Work Environment:

    Frequent communication with ODBM staff and leadership. Complex communication with individuals/groups throughout the global organization.

    External Communication:

    High degree of communication relating to content providers and ministry partners. Communication with outside vendors, contractors, and other organizations. Professionalism, discretion, accuracy, and tact are required.


    Leadership Responsibility:

    Required to oversee projects in support of the Global Content Office. Will be required to give guidance or direction to others.
