JOB TITLE: Foreign Policy & Defense Intern (Policy Shop)

REPORTS TO: Foreign Policy & Defense Team Lead

DESCRIPTION: Our National Conversation is building a non-partisan solution platform for American policy issues. The Foreign Policy/Defense Intern contributes to ONC’s mission of providing non-partisan news, opinions, and policy solutions by analyzing public policy issues and forming solutions that include liberal, moderate, and conservative perspectives. If you are interested in military, national security, foreign affairs, government, or conflict, this team is the perfect fit. Some of our topics include human rights, immigration, diplomacy, and cybersecurity. We discuss not only American foreign policy, but the interaction of other international organizations and countries as well. As a member of the Foreign Policy/Defense team, you would be tasked with researching and summarizing hot-button issues, crafting opinion and solution pieces, and interviewing with experts. If you have a specific policy area of interest, check our other listings. You may be tasked with other projects as needed.

This position is remote, with work primarily conducted over Zoom and Slack, so applicants must be comfortable coordinating in a remote environment and are expected to maintain a high level of communication. The duration of this internship can be as short as a semester or as long as a year or more depending on their performance. Many people choose to extend their internship past the amount of time they initially committed to. Preferably, this intern will commit to at least the end of the Spring semester (April 30th, 2023).

COMPENSATION: This is not a paid position.
