    Job Description

JOB TITLE: Justice and Public Safety Policy Intern (Policy Shop)

REPORTS TO: Justice and Public Safety Policy Team Lead

JOB DESCRIPTION: Our National Conversation is building a non-partisan solution platform for American policy issues. The Justice and Public Safety Policy Intern contributes to ONC’s mission of providing non-partisan news, opinions, and policy solutions by analyzing public policy issues and forming solutions that include liberal, moderate, and conservative perspectives. Justice and Public Safety is a policy topic that occurs at the intersection of governance and social issues. It ranges from the obvious topics, such as institutional police structure, to more niche topics like jury selection. Justice and Public Safety analyzes the systemic structures and institutions of the criminal justice system, legal system, police institution, and more. As a member of the Justice and Public Safety Policy team, you will be tasked with researching and summarizing hot-button issues, crafting opinion and solution pieces, helping write chapters for our next books, and collaborating with experts where needed. You may be tasked with other projects as needed.

This position is remote, with work primarily conducted over Zoom and Slack, so applicants must be comfortable coordinating in a remote environment and are expected to maintain a high level of communication. The duration of this internship can be as short as a semester or as long as a year or more depending on their performance. Many people choose to extend their internship past the amount of time they initially committed to. Preferably, this intern will commit to at least the end of the Spring semester (April 30th, 2022).
