Position Title: Social Media/Marketing Internship - Paid

Duration: Through December 31, 2023, with possible extension opportunity

This position is: Part Time Internship/Non-exempt, 20 hours per week

The Ministry: OurCalling is a ministry specifically focused on the unsheltered homeless community. We operate an outreach center for the homeless community near downtown Dallas. We are passionate about loving and helping the unsheltered homeless transition to better lives. We are a faith-based ministry where every job is a ministry position. Each staff member should be able to clearly share the Gospel and communicate their own testimony. While everyone on the team wears multiple hats, our primary function is getting people off the street and helping them walk with Jesus. We want everything that we do to point to Jesus. We serve 200-400 guests daily. We are a “no-barrier” facility that is welcoming and compassionate to all who enter.

Position Summary: The Social Media/Marketing internship is an opportunity to learn, implement, and hone communications skills and knowledge in a dynamic and collaborative team setting. The purpose of the role is to advance the presence of OurCalling’s brand and ministry within the community. This position will fulfill a vital role within the Advancement department, which is responsible for raising $6M+ annually.

Essential Functions:

• Use social media trends to plan and implement a social media grid for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter
• Grow and engage our social media following throughout the DFW Metroplex
• Aid with the inception, planning, writing and design of marketing materials such as Organization Brochure, Email and Mailed Appeals, Annual Report, and Donor email series
• Assist with communications and creative for fundraising gala such as: designing certificates for auction items, on-site decor set up, communications to attendees before and after the event
• Photograph daily activity at OurCalling to utilize in marketing materials and social media
• Capture and produce basic video footage of daily activity at OurCalling to be used in marketing materials and social media
• Design images and create video for social media posts

Qualifications & Skills:

• Currently enrolled or completed college level coursework in Social Media, Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or related study
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Must have good observational skills.
• Ideal candidate has experience with Canva, Photoshop, inDesign, or Illustrator.
