    About the Role

    The State of Arizona is hiring an Outreach Specialist to support the Homes to Heroes initiative, focused on ending veteran homelessness in the state. You will be the key connector between government agencies, nonprofits, landlords/housing providers, workforce organizations, veteran communities, and local stakeholders.

    This role is ideal for someone passionate about veteran services, homelessness prevention, and community engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    ✔ Conduct outreach across assigned Continuum of Care (CoC) region ✔ Build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders ✔ Facilitate virtual & in-person meetings, community events, and focus groups ✔ Gather feedback on successful strategies, challenges, and service gaps ✔ Compile regional service/resource lists not currently tracked in state systems ✔ Collaborate with Program Coordinator & Data Analyst to support a unified statewide plan

    Required Qualifications

    ✅ 1+ year of experience in community outreach or similar role ✅ Strong communication & meeting facilitation skills ✅ Experience with social media and digital outreach tools ✅ Ability to work independently & in a collaborative team environment ✅ Knowledge of HUD-VASH, SSVF, GPD, and other federal housing programs ✅ Familiarity with veteran homelessness services and local resources ✅ Must live in Maricopa County and be able to travel within the region ✅ Experience with virtual meeting platforms

    Preferred Qualifications

    ⭐ Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Communications, or related field ⭐ Knowledge of SWOT analysis ⭐ Military service or experience working with veteran communities ⭐ Lived experience with homelessness (preferred but not required)

    Working Conditions

    Mostly remote – laptop & phone provided

    Occasional evenings/weekends for events or outreach needs
