Position Summary
The Foreman – Overhead Traffic Signals leads field crews responsible for the installation, maintenance, and inspection of overhead traffic signal systems. This role requires proficiency in interpreting signal plans, overseeing aerial installations, ensuring crew safety, and coordinating with inspectors and project stakeholders. The Foreman ensures work is completed to specification, on time, and in alignment with TxDOT, COSA, and industry standards.

Your Role
- Reads and interprets signal layouts, project plans, and governing agency specifications (TxDOT, COSA, civil engineers).
- Leads intersection layout measurements, bolt pattern verification, mast arm leveling, and equipment rigging.
- Manages bucket truck operations and ensures compliance with aerial work safety standards.
- Supervises pole and mast arm placement, signal head mounting, wire pulling, and controller cabinet installations.
- Oversees signal wiring, grounding, conduit routing, and terminations for both power and detection systems.
- Conducts daily pre-task hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and enforces compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Reviews material inventory, ensures proper tool maintenance, and tracks equipment usage.
- Manages daily reporting using HCSS HeavyJob, including labor, production, and material tracking.
- Reviews crew timekeeping and verifies documentation for safety checklists and project compliance.
- Interfaces with inspectors and project stakeholders, resolving issues and maintaining positive relationships.
- Oversees troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning of signal systems and detection components.
- Coordinates final inspections, redlines as-built plans, and verifies conformance with MUTCD standards.
- Collaborates with Safety Officers to ensure proper fall protection, grounding, and lift operation standards are met.
- Supports company initiatives in safety, efficiency, training, and performance improvement.
- Communicates effectively with internal leadership and represents the company in stakeholder meetings.

What you bring
- 5+ years of traffic signal experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in traffic signal installation, aerial equipment operation, and interpreting signal plans/specs.
- Strong knowledge of MUTCD, OSHA regulations, and TxDOT/COSA requirements.
- Experience with rigging, crane lifts, signal controller installation, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Competency in using HCSS HeavyJob and digital documentation tools preferred.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Flagger, bucket truck safety, and confined space certifications required or obtained upon hire.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, operate bucket trucks and rigging equipment, and perform aerial tasks at heights. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods. Visual acuity, hand-eye coordination, and dexterity are essential for electrical connections and equipment operation. Use of PPE and adherence to strict safety protocols is mandatory.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
May require travel within Texas. Overnight or out-of-town stays may be needed based on project location.
