    If so, do we have an opportunity for you! Flour Bakery + Cafe is now hiring for an Overnight Assistant Production Pastry Chef to join our growing team! This person will work with owner Joanne Chang and the entire Flour team to ensure that the missions of Flour are being met at all times.

    The Overnight Assistant Production Pastry Chef is a commissary (aka Big Kitchen) manager reporting to the Production Pastry Chef and supporting them in achieving the objectives and performance goals within the context of the Flour mission. Success in the Overnight Assistant Production Pastry Chef role involves providing exceptional attention to products while developing team members through one-on-one coaching and training.

    Day-to-Day Performance Expectations:

    Keep lines of communication open between you, the other Big Kitchen managers, the Big Kitchen pastry team and the pastry teams in the retail spaces.

    Come to weekly meetings with the production pastry chef and other assistant production pastry chef with an agenda of items to work on as well as questions and issues

    Support the bakers in their work; troubleshoot issues, help make smooth transitions with menu and operational changes and jump in to help manage workload,

    Always maintain a calm and composed demeanor

    Maintain a clean, neat, and organized production pastry kitchen including work station, ovens, walk in/freezer, and dry storage

    Maintain strict sanitation standards for you and your team, adhering to both city and state regulations; keep ServSafe certification up to date

    Maintain standard ordering practices based on bakery demand

    Strive for continuous improvement of our processes in the BK kitchen and move to make it as efficient as possible with the highest possible quality food being produced

    Be vigilant with product quality; taste three things daily and take note of any pastry that is not compliant with our vision

    Hire, train and take part in one-on-one coaching for your team with the support of the production pastry chef. Assist with staff reviews.

    Be approachable for questions from all staff; keep a pulse on staff -frustrations and goals

    Write a production list for each baker with room for flexibility

    Utilize our crunchtime ordering system to assist in inventory and cost controls

    Check the schedule for the production pastry chef before it goes out

    Skills for Qualification:

    A minimum of 3 years of professional pastry experience

    At least 1 years of management experience preferred

    Early morning, evening, holiday, and weekend availability is a must

    Eager to learn

    Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement

    Have a passion for great food and pastry.

    Experience coaching, training, and developing others

    Spanish speaking preferred or a willingness to learn and grow ability to speak spanish

    Compensation:

    The starting salary for this position is $64,000 annualized ($57,000 base plus a $7000 overnight differential)
