    Job Description

    Oxfam America is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Intern to work closely with its Campaigns Department. This position will support campaigning, research, and advocacy efforts for Oxfam’s work related to COVID-19, climate change, migration, food security, women’s  empowerment, economic justice, voter’s rights and worker’s rights. 

    The Campaigns Department Intern will provide organizing, research, and administrative support for several key projects, including campaign stunts and tactics, and supporting the management of Oxfam’s Sisters on the Planet Ambassadors program.

    The Intern will have the opportunity to gain practical organizing skills, get an inside understanding of campaigning, lobbying, grassroots organizing and outreach within an international development agency. The internship offers a friendly and open work environment  of supportive staff with whom to share knowledge, career advice, and workplace mentoring.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support knowledge and information sharing and management processes by maintaining Campaigns’ Box folders through uploading and organizing files in the appropriate folders as needed, sharing files and folders with Campaigns and other Oxfam staff as needed/upon request, tracking and disseminating information on campaign activities, and supporting the management of campaign calendars, newsletters and reports.
    • Provide research support and capacity to Campaign leads and Advocacy Advisors on campaign issues and tactics, Congressional targets, external landscape and more as needed.
    • Provide administrative support for campaign meetings as needed by capturing and sharing meeting notes and action items.
    • Provide technical and logistical support for Campaigns’ webinars, trainings and virtual events.
    • Support the management and recruitment efforts of the Sisters on the Planet Ambassadors program by maintaining an online program database, preparing and sending mass emails to program ambassadors (Sisters), preparing materials and other deliverables to share with Sisters, tracking Sisters social media activity, and researching prospective Sisters for recruitment efforts as needed.
    • Lead on the creation of the department’s Quarterly Report by tracking and gathering information on major events, actions, engagements or other initiatives within the department and compiling into a comprehensive digital report.
    • Support the Campaigns MEL Manager and Campaign Coordinator with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) initiatives by providing administrative support in team debriefs, tracking campaign actions to inform evaluations, and other tasks as needed.
    • Provide other administrative and project support to the Campaigns Department staff as needed.

    • The intern must be a current student
    • Strong organizational, writing and communication skills;
    • Ability to work well with others;
    • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines;
    • Previous administrative and research experience preferred;
    • Familiarity with Outlook, Zoom and Microsoft Office products preferred
    • Interest in furthering knowledge about Oxfam and global social justice issues, and high level of personal energy and commitment;
    • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, a quick learner, and a team player with a strong commitment to social justice and alignment with Oxfam’s core values

    LOCATION

    This position will be remote through September 2021, then may transition to in-person, barring any further delays with the office reopenings, or may remain remote. Upon the transition to in person  work, this position will be based in either the DC office, located at 1101 17th St NW, Suite 1300, Washington, DC 20036, or the Boston office, located at 226 Causeway St, Boston, MA 02114.

    HOURS AND PAY This is a 6 month, full-time, paid position at 35 hours a week and will be paid $15/hr. The internship will start in late June and end in late December 2021.
