    Job Description

    The Campaigns Department at Oxfam challenges US policymakers in government and the private sector to better address inequality - and we are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Intern. The intern will be a core member of the campaign team and will gain experience in public campaigning, research, and advocacy on a wide range of issues from supporting workers and fighting to rein in corporate power, to addressing climate change by ending the era of fossil fuels, to demanding a last ceasefire in Gaza, and urging people to get out the vote and protect democracy, and more!

    The Campaigns Department Intern will provide organizing, research, and administrative support for several key projects, including campaign stunts and tactics, and supporting the management of Oxfam’s Sisters on the Planet Ambassadors program.

    The Intern will have the opportunity to gain practical organizing skills and get an inside understanding of campaigning, lobbying, grassroots organizing and outreach within a global organization. The internship offers a friendly and open work environment of supportive staff with whom to share knowledge, career advice, and workplace mentoring.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide research support and capacity to Campaign Leads and Organizing Advisors on campaign issues and tactics, organizing and events such as musical festivals and other volunteer recruitment, Congressional targets, external landscape and more as needed.
    • Provide administrative support for campaign meetings as needed by capturing and sharing meeting notes and action items.
    • Provide technical and logistical support for Campaigns’ webinars, trainings and virtual events.
    • Support the management and recruitment efforts of the Sisters on the Planet Ambassadors program by maintaining an online program database, preparing and sending mass emails, supporting event management, tracking social media activity, and researching prospective Sisters for recruitment efforts as needed.
    • Support the Campaigns Specialist with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) initiatives through activity tracking and data management and producing dashboards summarizing campaigning, organizing and influencing work.
    • Support knowledge and information sharing and management processes by maintaining Campaigns’ Box folders through uploading and organizing files in the appropriate folders as needed, sharing files and folders with Campaigns and other Oxfam staff as needed/upon request, tracking and disseminating information on campaign activities, and supporting the management of campaign calendars, newsletters and reports.
    • Provide other administrative and project support to the Campaigns Department staff as needed.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • The intern should have or be pursuing an undergraduate degree or higher, or have comparable work experience;
    • Strong organizational, writing and communication skills;
    • Ability to work well with others;
    • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines;
    • Previous administrative and research experience preferred;
    • Familiarity with Outlook, Zoom and Microsoft Office products preferred
    • Interest in furthering knowledge about Oxfam and global social justice issues, and high level of personal energy and commitment;
    • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, a quick learner, and a team player with a strong commitment to social justice and alignment with Oxfam’s core values

    ** Location**
    Oxfam America is a hybrid workplace and this position can be remote or work in-person out of the Boston or DC offices. Note that campaigns department staff are located across the US and primarily work remotely.

    ** Hours and Pay**

    This is a 6-month paid position at $17/hr. The internship will start in June or July 2024 and end in December 2024, exact start/end dates are flexible. Applicants must be available at least 30 and up to 35 hours per week during normal ET business hours (Monday-Friday, 9 am to 5 pm ET)
