    ABOUT THE ROLE

Oxford Economics is a world leader in global research and economic analysis for businesses and governments.  Our Economic Impact team, which specializes in running large-scale research programs for big-name companies, is seeking a Junior Economist Intern in our New York office.  We conduct customized research involving economic impact, trade and policy modeling, regional workforce/education analysis, and strategy development. Our original research is shared via reports and presentations to various audiences including business professionals and government bodies. As an intern, you would have the opportunity to work closely with economists and senior managers and become heavily involved in the research and reporting process.

Oxford Economics seeks talented and well-qualified students who thrive on learning new skills and aren't afraid to tackle big projects.  As an intern you will get to work with a variety of our staff, while working on real projects that will help us grow.  Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, energetic, and interested in applying their academic skillset to our work environment.

    WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

PROJECT MANAGEMENT: You will help us track deadlines and project milestones and can build relationships with clients and colleagues, seeing projects grow from inception to publication.

RESEARCH: We conduct rigorous research that includes data compilation and organization, model development, and expansive reviews of secondary sources. You would be involved in each phase of this process, providing you with valuable insight.

WRITING: Our research results in the development of reports, corporate and public presentations, interactive models/tools and other deliverables.  You will have the opportunity to work with our economists as we craft reports, presentation and other deliverables. We are always seeking new and inventive ways to visualize data and contextualize findings. You will have the freedom to experiment with presentation and descriptions of complex ideas in a manner that can be easily consumed by non-economists.

    WHAT WE REQUIRE

    • Background in Economics, Statistics, Math or a related field.
    • Graduate Degree Strongly Preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office (particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
    • Proficient in statistical software such as (SAS, Stata, or Eviews)
    • A general understanding of or interest in business, economics, or global issues.
    • Detail-oriented and able to tackle large projects.
    • Willingness to be collaborative and creative, and to think critically.

We value all our interns and go the extra mile to make sure you receive a learning experience that fits your career goals.  We will work with you to develop a long-term project that spans the length of the internship and will allow you to shadow economists and technical experts throughout all stages of the project process. You will also learn how to work in a professional environment and have ample opportunity to network within our company.
