P. Terry’s is accelerating its growth around Texas with currently 20 locations in operation. The company expects to open 4-5 new locations per year over the next 5+ years. Supporting the company’s growth through continuing to build a best-in-class home office team will be critical to its success.
This position will be responsible for all aspects of Accounting including internal controls, period closes, cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, asset protection, tax compliance, and support of finance and accounting setup requirements for existing and new store operations. This role has a path to Controller with stretch assignments within cash forecasting and debt compliance.
Responsibilities and Duties
Ensure proper recording of journal entries required to reflect accurate daily and monthly activity
Review, support and publish timely monthly financial statements
Manage and administer accounts receivable/credit, accounts payable, payroll, and purchasing
Manage all treasury functions while ensuring proper controls are established and maintained
Track and communicate cash flow balances
Maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with US GAAP
Provide assistance to the Payroll Department
Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements
Document preparation to support annual tax returns
Maintain banking relationships in support of store operations and other company activities
Manage engagement of outside CPA firm(s) – yearly close, audits, tax preparation
Coordinate property tax renditions and payments
Ensure timely and accurate reporting to governmental and regulation authorities as required.
Maintain appropriate and secure repositories for corporate governance documents, site leases, equipment leases/rentals, permits, notes payable, sales contracts, assets, and other company documents
Assist CFO in strategic projects as needed while guiding the accounting team in support of project requests
Qualifications/Experience
Strong technical accounting skills – including GAAP and IRS regulations
Strong proficiency with MS Suite/advanced Excel skills, basic financial reporting software and ERP systems
Ability to generate quality correspondence, spreadsheets, reports
Proven ability to operate with competing priorities, often with considerable time constraints
Adaptable, effective and strong leader
Excellent communication skills and able to work well cross-functionally and departmentally
Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality
Experience evaluating and implementing accounting systems for improved workflow and efficiency
Detail-oriented, constant learner, motivated, self-driven, and adaptable
Position Requirements
7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in restaurant or multi-unit retail environment
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related
CPA required
4+ years of supervisory experience
