We are seeking a PACS & RIS Administrator with consultative expertise, technical support proficiency, and deep knowledge of Radiology Information Systems (RIS), imaging informatics, Health Level Seven (HL7), and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) to join our dynamic radiology support team. This role requires a professional who thrives in a consultative, hands-on environment and enjoys solving complex challenges in radiology IT. The successful candidate will manage, optimize, and integrate multiple imaging informatics platforms, with a heavy focus on RIS and related interoperability, to ensure seamless 24/7 radiology operations. This position is instrumental in maintaining system integrity, enhancing performance, and supporting our mission to deliver outstanding patient care through cutting-edge technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide support for both radiology-specific and general IT issues.
Develop a deep understanding of each customer's PACS and RIS environments, including workflows, integration points, and data exchange requirements.
Collaborate with leadership on national consulting projects involving PACS, RIS, HIS, HL7 interfaces, and imaging informatics.
Take a lead role in RIS administration, including managing patient scheduling modules, report distribution, and worklist optimization.
Oversee and maintain PACS and RIS systems to ensure data integrity, workflow efficiency, and seamless interoperability with affiliated systems.
Plan, install, configure, test, and support PACS, RIS, and ancillary systems in alignment with departmental and client needs.
Ensure compliance with DICOM and HL7 standards to facilitate accurate and secure health information exchange.
Proactively monitor and analyze system performance, recommending and implementing stability and efficiency improvements.
Serve as a primary liaison between radiology departments, IT teams, and external vendors for both PACS and RIS initiatives.
Lead technology planning and assist in implementing new imaging and informatics projects.
Provide guidance and mentorship to other imaging informatics staff.
Design and deliver training programs for PACS, RIS, and related imaging informatics tools.
Qualifications:
Proven experience administering PACS and RIS in a healthcare setting, including workflow optimization and interface management.
Strong understanding of HL7 messaging, DICOM standards, and imaging informatics integration.
Familiarity with operating systems, networking, and healthcare IT environments.
Ability to analyze and improve system performance across multiple imaging platforms.
Strong consultative skills, with experience leading projects and training initiatives.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and medical records confidentiality.
Experience with voice recognition software/hardware and previous healthcare administrative experience is preferred.
Experience as a radiologic technologist is a strong asset, especially for candidates who can confidently explain and guide others through the full spectrum of radiology workflows.
Travel up to 25-50% is required.
