    Job Description

    Overview

    We are seeking an experienced PACU Nurse Manager to lead day-to-day operations within a high-volume post-anesthesia care environment.

    This is a working manager role responsible for clinical oversight, staffing, performance management, and operational efficiency within the PACU. The ideal candidate brings strong perioperative leadership experience, a hands-on management style, and a commitment to quality, safety, and staff development.

    Responsibilities

    Operations & Clinical Leadership

    • Provide direct leadership and oversight of daily PACU operations

    • Coordinate staffing assignments to ensure safe coverage and productivity targets

    • Serve as a clinical resource and role model for PACU nursing staff

    • Monitor department workflows and patient throughput to support surgical services

    People Management

    • Conduct performance evaluations and establish individual employee goals

    • Support staff development, coaching, and ongoing education

    • Promote engagement, accountability, and professional growth within the team

    Quality & Performance Improvement

    • Review, update, and implement departmental policies, procedures, and protocols

    • Participate in process improvement and patient safety initiatives

    • Identify facility or workflow issues and implement corrective actions proactively

    Administrative & Financial Oversight

    • Participate in budget management, staffing efficiency, and inventory control

    • Support change initiatives through visible leadership and communication

    • Maintain professional growth through continuing education and leadership development

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact licensure

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

    • BLS (Basic Life Support)

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

    • 2+ years of perioperative experience (OR, PACU, or day surgery)

    • Previous nursing leadership or management experience

    Preferred

    • Prior PACU leadership experience

    • Strong background in postoperative recovery and anesthesia care
