Overview
We are seeking an experienced PACU Nurse Manager to lead day-to-day operations within a high-volume post-anesthesia care environment.
This is a working manager role responsible for clinical oversight, staffing, performance management, and operational efficiency within the PACU. The ideal candidate brings strong perioperative leadership experience, a hands-on management style, and a commitment to quality, safety, and staff development.
Responsibilities
Operations & Clinical Leadership
Provide direct leadership and oversight of daily PACU operations
Coordinate staffing assignments to ensure safe coverage and productivity targets
Serve as a clinical resource and role model for PACU nursing staff
Monitor department workflows and patient throughput to support surgical services
People Management
Conduct performance evaluations and establish individual employee goals
Support staff development, coaching, and ongoing education
Promote engagement, accountability, and professional growth within the team
Quality & Performance Improvement
Review, update, and implement departmental policies, procedures, and protocols
Participate in process improvement and patient safety initiatives
Identify facility or workflow issues and implement corrective actions proactively
Administrative & Financial Oversight
Participate in budget management, staffing efficiency, and inventory control
Support change initiatives through visible leadership and communication
Maintain professional growth through continuing education and leadership development
Qualifications
Required
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact licensure
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
2+ years of perioperative experience (OR, PACU, or day surgery)
Previous nursing leadership or management experience
Preferred
Prior PACU leadership experience
Strong background in postoperative recovery and anesthesia care
