FASHION DESIGN ASSOCIATE
Pastel is a children's and teen's direct to consumer brand with various locations in the tristate area. We are focused on quality, whimsy, and detail with a European influence. The Design Associate will support the overall functions of the Design/Merchandising/Product development teams and bring design ideas to life.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Measure and Catalog sample as they arrive
- Attend Fit and Design Meeting and take notes of all changes
- Maintain & organize the fabric library
- Understanding product options as well as the logic of turn times to help meet merchandising deadlines and customer needs
- Prepare line sheets and order forms for sales department using knowledge of the product
- Work as a team with designers and technical design to assure all techpack requirements are communicated properly and thoroughly so development process runs smooth
- Understand time and action calendars-work with production to assure deadlines are met
- Must be creative, have a sense of color, fashion, and an eye for graphic design as well as merchandising collections
- Have a good understanding of printing techniques, and product development
- Must have problem solving and decision-making skills and a thorough understanding of the process (why we do what we do) as well as the ability to anticipate, and to see around corners.
- Communicate directly with overseas vendors
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, CAD experience a plus
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Associates degree
- Minimum 2 years of Apparel or related industry
- Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft office
- Strong knowledge of fabric qualities
- Extremely organized, detailed and accurate
- Proactive and possess the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong prioritizing and problem-solving skills
