    OVERVIEW:  Management Science Associates, Inc. (MSA) is a diversified information management company that for over half a century has given market leaders the competitive edge in data management, analytics and technology.  The MSA IT/OP division has been offering client-focused data management, technology and analytic solutions to the Consumer Package Goods industry since the early 1980s.  We are currently seeking a Data Support Specialist to join the IT/OPS Operations Team.  The Operations Team is responsible for the daily operations and delivery of data to our clients.  This is an entry Level position for Product Research and will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and validating  Brand and Promotional information regarding ownership, size, flavor, factors and other detailed characteristics including UPC.  The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, flexible and highly detail oriented.  He or she must be motivated and driven to succeed within our organization and have computer skills.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform research, investigation and validation of new product information for all categories delivered to clients; code attributes to support client deliverables, queries and data matching; use interactive applications to create and maintain master and client product data; use 3rd party resources to research and reconcile product attributes or data inconsistencies; learn to extract and validate data from database tables to meet client and internal requests; monitor metrics and reports provided by team lead to determine what needs done to create a master record for new products
    • Identify data inconsistencies based on project or category documentation and business rules; investigate and present findings to team lead; begin to learn how to investigate data issues
    • Meet operational expectations for number of new master records added weekly; meet expectations for on-time delivery and data quality; maintain acceptable accuracy rates
    • Learn standard operating procedures and group methodology; review and demonstrate a working knowledge of operational guidelines specific to assigned group
    • Communicate with team members on project assignments and escalates issues as needed
    • Understand strategic goals for respective area and aligns personal goals; meet on a regular basis with direct management to review, update, and monitor progress of established goals
    • Attend ongoing training to achieve personal, professional, and technical improvement
    • HYBRID IN-OFFICE AND REMOTE WORK WITH MAJORITY OF TIME BEING REMOTE.  CANDIDATES MUST CURRENTLY LIVE IN THE PITTSBURGH REGION OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE DUE TO OCCASIONAL IN-OFFICE WORK

    Required Skills

    • Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
    • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Basic written and oral communication skills
    • Basic data mining skills with the ability to gather relevant information related to assigned work from internal and external sources
    • Basic PC software skills and email
    • Basic knowledge of files and tables as related to processes needed to perform assigned work
    • Basic understanding of MS Office applications including Internet Explorer
    • Basic time management skills; ability to multi task
    • Attention to detail with the ability to evaluate data for data anomalies
    • Understands business requirements, data and processes used to produce the intended results
    • Adherence to, and demonstration of, organization and division core values
    • Ability to effectively work with personnel on all levels
    • Makes best use of work time, does not take excessive breaks or spend time on activities not related to work.
    • Must be a self-starter, flexible and highly detail oriented; must be motivated and driven to succeed within the organization
