    PATH’s Center of Digital and Data Excellence (CoDE) is dedicated to accelerating the digital transformation of global health and utilizing high quality data to further improve health outcomes. Our work spans the entire systems strengthening lifecycle from advancing global, regional and national digital health agendas to supporting the deployment and long-term use of these systems. 

     

    PATH works directly with national governments in low- and middle-income countries to select, adapt and scale appropriate information and communication tools, skills, and tactics for long term use in their country to address health challenges. Our services span the entire software development lifecycle from supporting analysis of digital health needs to the deployment and long-term use of those technologies. PATH coordinates closely with government ministries of health, the information and communication technology sector, other global health NGOs and donors to improve the governance, design, and use of technologies and data to improve health sector performance.

      

    PATH is recruiting a Senior Data Analytics Engineer to scale and automate operations for PATH’s Analytics as a Service. The Data Engineer will be a key member of CoDE’s digital and data team, reporting to the Director of Data for Action. S/he will provide technical assistance in areas of engineering, operations, and community development in order to maintain a self-sustaining service.

     

    THE POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 

     

    Engineering:

    • Design architecture for PATH's analytic platforms
    • Design, deploy and maintain supporting infrastructure for PATH's analytic platforms
    • Automate the deployment, administration and operations of the infrastructure and analytic platforms
    • Build and maintain monitoring/telemetry, log aggregation, and reporting on infrastructure performance, application performance, and user behavior
    • Build and maintain standard authentication and access patterns for integrations within PATH's broader data/technology ecosystem
    • Build and maintain Windows and Linux server deployments

     

    Administration and Operations:

    • Administer PATH's analytic platforms and supporting infrastructure
    • Operationally support PATH's analytic platforms and supporting infrastructure
    • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams as required to troubleshoot and resolve issues outside the scope of expertise
    • Partner with the Information Technology team to maintain and support application licensing and software distribution
    • Coordinate roles and responsibilities in conjunction with CoDE and the global Information Technology team including tier levels, business hours, on-call hours, service level agreements, etc.)
    • Maintain collaborative working relationships with the broader IT engineering community including the network, proxy, hosting, security and cloud teams

     

    Community, Culture and Coaching:

    • Work closely with internal communities to gather feedback and drive reliable platform services and features
    • Provide key insights about the platforms including performance and adoption to community stakeholders
    • Build a culture that understands data and recognize how to use data for decision making
    • Provide analytics tools and platforms subject matter expertise to the community (and team) including topics such as performance best practices, connectivity, and security
    • Demonstrate work to the broader community through public demonstrations and in small group or individual coaching sessions
    • Develop and implement methods for educating at scale
    • Innovate and challenge the status quo as to how the team serves the community
    • Foster a foundational, self-supporting community
    • Find, connect, and create analytical talent and culture
    • Actively participate in tool-based user groups and online communities
    • Facilitate crowd sourced support between community members and break down organization silos

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, or similar.

    A minimum of ten years professional experience in data analytics.

    Strong experience in development lifecycle, agile methodology, best practices, coding, code management

    Software development and coding experience:

    • Development using GitHub

    • C C# HTML Javascript PHP Powershell Python R node.js bash

    • Data management and visualization experience

    • Alteryx Server and Designer

    • Tableau Desktop and Server

    • Experience with continuous integration and deployment technologies

    • Experience with cloud-based providers: AWS, Google Compute Engine, Azure, or OpenStack

    • Experience with configuration management and automation tools

    • Experience with Windows and Linux systems administration as well as the .NET stack

    • Experience with enterprise networking and routing, including interface configuration, DNS, proxies, firewalls

    • Experience working in virtual teams across multiple time zones with multiple cultures
