    WORKING TITLE: PROGRAM OFFICER – RESEARCH AND DESIGN (ON THIRD PARTY PAYROLL, RANDSTAD)

    ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

     

    PATH is currently recruiting one Program Officer – Research and Design, who will be accountable for guiding and support the organization’s research initiatives across various program verticals in coordination with the technical teams and respective project leads. He/she will be reporting to Lead – Business Performance.

     

    ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Coordinate with program leads to identify research activities in various projects in South Asia
    • Ensure, working with the program leads, that research and related activities are performed in accordance with country regulations and PATH and donor policies and procedures.
    • Assist the Principal Investigator identified by the program lead with PATH compliance and monitoring efforts, and helps in reporting instances of non-compliance to the appropriate compliance office
    • Support the PI in developing, reviewing and comprehending the study/ research protocol, i.e., study proceedings and timelines, inclusion and exclusion criteria, confidentiality, privacy protections.
    • Collaborate with the PI to prepare IRB/HMSC and any other regulatory submission documents as required by the protocol.
    • Assist PI in preparation of any modifications to the scientific protocol in accordance with country regulations and PATH and donor policies and procedures.
    • Assist Principal Investigator with scientific and compliance reporting requirements in accordance with country regulations and PATH and donor policies and procedures.
    • Work with the PI to develop and implement recruitment strategies in accordance with IRB/HMSC requirements and approvals.
    • Assist Principal Investigator in assuring that all key personnel or persons ‘engaged’ in the research meet the requirements in accordance with country regulations and PATH and donor policies and procedures
    • Attend investigator meetings as required or requested by the PI
    • Establish and organize records of research studies undertaken by PATH, including but not limited to, regulatory approvals, study specific source documentation and other materials.
    • Maintain effective and ongoing communication with PATH's RDC and PI during the course of the study.
    • Arrange secure storage of study/research documents that will be maintained according to PATH policy or for the contracted length of time, whichever is longer.
    • Assist the Principal Investigator in promptly reporting any unanticipated problems involving risks to research participants or others to the HMSC (PATH's IRB).
    • Promote the ethical conduct of research by reporting good faith suspicions of misconduct in research as defined within PATH's Policy and Code of Conduct.
    • Provide administrative, editorial and project management support to PI for planning and producing articles for publication in print and online peer-reviewed journals, according to agreed style, and keeping to strict deadlines.
    • Any other task related to Research and Design, as assigned from time to time.

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

     

    • Master’s degree in related field required (Monitoring & Evaluation; Health Research; Public Health; etc.).
    • Knowledge of International Review Board (IRB), human subject research, human research protection related policies and procedures
    • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience and demonstrated skills in research and monitoring & evaluation.
    • Knowledge and expertise in using quantitative and qualitative analysis software.
    • Experience of conducting data collection, analysis and report writing for quantitative as well as qualitative health research.
    • Previous experience working in cross-functional teams (or a matrixed organizational structure).
    • Experience working on USAID or similar internationally-funded programs is a plus
    • Well-organized and attention to details with good follow-through skills.
    • Strong communication skills. Proficient in English for both oral and written communication. Knowledge of Hindi language is desirable.
    • Excellent MS Office skills (especially Word, and PowerPoint).
