    PATH is currently recruiting for a Research Officer, focusing on building evidence for COVID-19 self-testing research work.

     

    PATH began its work in India in the late 1990s, bringing governments, communities, private-sector companies, and experienced public health practitioners together to address some of the country’s most crucial health problems. In early 2000, the scope of our India program expanded with a major immunization initiative for the state of Andhra Pradesh. Today, PATH’s India projects focus on TB, immunization, HIV/AIDS, injection safety, maternal health, Innovation Labs, and more.

     

    PATH with support from UNITAID is carrying out a research project to generate evidence on an operational model for COVID 19 self-testing. The study is planned to be carried out in the state of Mizoram. This is a multi-country project implemented by a consortium of partners including PATH, PSI and other local partners in the various implementing countries. UNITAID responds to WHO’s need for generating evidence to build guidelines and policy documents and supports research implementation in many countries. The evidence generated from this can inform the development of global guidelines on COVID 19 diagnosis, treatment, and care, to be carried out by WHO.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design and develop research framework to compile and categorize COVID-19 testing and triaging interventions implemented through the project.
    • Design and manage the research objectives, development of protocols, data collection tools and documentation development.
    • Coordinate for obtaining approvals for the research protocols from PATH’s Scientific Merit Review, WHO Ethical Review Committee and Govt. of India’s Health Minister’s Screening Committee (HMSC)
    • Manage the internal and external ethics committee requirements including collaboration with the lead research institution.
    • Manage data collection, analysis and reporting activities, including compliance with data privacy policies and processes.
    • Support the Project Team in convening workshops, meetings with investigators, and external reviewers.
    • Leverage learnings from above to design scientific publications to ensure peer learning.

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

     

    • Master’s degree in public health, health research, health policy, 2+ years of experience in health research and programming in India. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
    • Prior experience in working in research environments with strong work knowledge of Institutional Review Boards/ Human Subjects Review mechanisms in India
    • Ability to adapt and work under various working conditions.
    • Must have experience working for or collaborating with government ministries, local and national NGOs, and/or multilateral agencies.
    • Strong technical knowledge in following areas:
      1. Experience in obtaining the required ethical clearances / IRB/ Human Subjects Review
      2. Quantitative and qualitative research methods
      3. Health programs in India
      4. Understanding of digital health research is desirable
    • Knowledge of any statistical package including R-Studio, STATA or SPSS will be highly preferred
    • Strong report writing skills especially scientific manuscripts.
    • Prior contributions to articles in peer reviewed publications will be highly preferred.
    • Strong project planning and management skills e.g., setting priorities and completing tasks on time and on budget
    • Ability to develop and maintain close and effective relationships with partner organizations at local, national, and international levels.
    • Proven effectiveness working in a team-based environment, but also capable of managing one’s own time.
    • Strong organizational and management skills,
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Hindi.
