    Project Name:  Creative Visual Communications Intern

    Description of internship project:  

    The creative visual communications intern will work with the communications officer, Devices and Tools leaders, and one or more product development teams to combine information and design to help tell the story of our work.

         

    Internship goals and learning objectives/benefit to the intern:   

    The intern will work under the direction of the communications officer and help teams that include research, product development, and commercialization activities. Intern will develop skills and apply talents to creative projects that aid global health project teams and will have the opportunity to gain on the job experience producing complex, compelling content. Intern will have a flexible schedule and the opportunity to work independently and freedom to pursue their creative vision.   

        

    Skills to be developed and/or expanded during internship:  

    Intern will further develop and evolve technical and creative skills and with communications officer, learn global health communications best practices, strategies, and approaches.     

      

    Proposed activities:    

    • Create assets and materials such as infographics, pictographs, instructions, decision-trees, or illustrations.
    • Understand complex data and highly technical information and synthesize into clear content for use on web, presentations, reports or social media.
    • Organize existing communication assets, such as graphics, photos, or presentations and curate content.
    • Produce presentations slides based team needs and aims.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

      

    Learning outcomes (how the Intern’s performance will be evaluated):  

    • Regular meetings with internship manager to review progress and receive feedback and direction.
    • Feedback from stakeholders and team members.
    • Completion of projects such as presentation content, infographics, etc.

     

    Required skills and experience:

    • Current enrollment in an graduate program in communications, media, information science, graphic design, art, web design, industrial design, journalism, or marketing, or similar.
    • Creative vision, self-sufficiency, and willingness to take initiative to solve problems
    • Ability to understand complex information and technical data in a wide range of global health and product development areas
    • Experience producing visual presentations and multimedia assets such as infographics
    • Organizational skills: ability to coordinate multiple projects, priorities, and tasks
    • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, matrix-structured environment
    • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines
    • High-level ability to use MS Office Suite, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
    • Ability to use Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English
    • Detail oriented
