    As a leader in providing consulting engineering services in the Northwest, we are currently seeking a qualified individual for the following open position in our Portland, Oregon office:  

    PROJECT ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER

    This position will involve technical work on a wide range of environmental projects including multi-media environmental compliance and treatment system design; technical report preparation; data management and analysis; stormwater management; environmental investigation and remediation planning; environmental compliance; and solid and hazardous waste management. As a project environmental engineer, you will work with project managers, engineers, geologists, and scientists to develop solutions for our clients and deliver exceptional work products.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

    • Assisting in the evaluation, design, and permitting of environmental projects including:
      • Preparing permit application packages;

      • Presenting technical recommendations through engineering reports and figures;

      • Preparing engineering calculations and assumptions;

      • Evaluating remediation technologies;

      • Environmental compliance;

    • Assisting with stormwater solutions for private and municipal clients including engineering calculations associated with stormwater system design;
    • Supporting environmental investigation and remediation activities, including planning, field execution, reporting, and client interface;
    • Preparing and reviewing multi-media environmental management plans (SWPCP/SWPPP, SPCC, ASPP, Solid Waste Operations, etc.);
    • Preparing engineering design drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates;
    • Conducting research and investigation for technical project solutions; consolidate findings for presentation to senior engineering staff with recommendations;
    • Field oversight of construction projects related to environmental systems;
    • Participating in business development activities, client management, and development of technical scopes of work, schedules, and budgets;
    • Representing PBS in a safe and professional manner both internally and externally.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in applicable engineering discipline (civil, environmental, or chemical) from an ABET-accredited institution; a Master of Science is a plus, but not required
    • Licensure: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE), or on track for PE, desired
    • 4 – 6 years of environmental engineering or science consulting experience
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office products; AutoCAD capabilities are a plus
    • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
    • Self-motivated to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
    • Detail oriented with good interpersonal skills
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
