    We are currently seeking to add a TRANSPORTATION PROJECT ENGINEER to our dynamic team in PORTLAND, OREGON.

    WORKING WITH THE PBS TEAM

    As a Transportation Project Engineer, you will provide a key role and lead the design and project coordination on a wide variety of small to large complex transportation projects for local agencies throughout Oregon and Washington. Projects include urban/rural roadway corridors, intersections, trails/pathways, bridges, and ADA facilities. These projects often include design of stormwater, sewer, and waterlines, staging and traffic control. You will lead production of plans, specifications, and cost estimates and work with other engineers and PBS staff to deliver cutting edge design for projects.      JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Work as a key member of a design team on moderate to large projects and independently on smaller projects;
    • Perform civil engineering design tasks associated with state and local municipal public works projects;
    • Self-manage project tasks, and maintain active communication with project managers;
    • Effectively manage multiple assignments, and prioritize with input from project managers;
    • Manage the following work elements: day-to-day internal and external communication (verbal and written), support and advise junior engineers and technical staff to develop PS&E documents, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with subconsultants or other consultants on larger projects, keep project on schedule and within budget, and keep clients satisfied;
    • Be willing to work in fast paced environment across multiple disciplines and project types;
    • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times;
    • Participate and represent PBS in professional organizations and functions;
    • Perform other duties as assigned. Duties may periodically include performing a variety of skilled professional tasks, manually or by use of computer-assisted drafting/design equipment;
    • Mentorship and training for junior/entry-level engineers and technicians.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
    • 5 -12 years of progressive experience with local agency projects preferably in Oregon or Washington, Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) or similar public agency projects
    • Oregon PE license, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D with Microstation Inroads 3D modeling highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with ODOT, AASHTO, and MUTCD design manuals.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
