PCC Preschool Teachers are self-motivated and work as a team to support and minister to families in our program.

    Our mission is to care for the whole child and provide opportunities for each one to grow to their full potential emotionally, socially, physically, mentally, and spiritually. We strive to prepare every child and family for kindergarten.

    The PCC Preschool is seeking applicants for a 5-day teaching position. We are a part-time preschool program. PCC Preschool Teachers’ work schedule is from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on assigned teaching days. Our school year for teachers is from August 27 to June 1 excluding holidays and winter/spring break.

    Job Description

    Principal Objective

    Under the direct supervision of the PCC Preschool Site Director, PCC Preschool Teachers are responsible for the supervision and curriculum instruction of students enrolled in the PCC Preschool Program.

    Qualifications

    Teachers must: love Jesus through the relationships we build with young families through our program.

    Be Christian, growing in their faith, and desire to know & share God’s love

    Be at least 18-years-old.

    Have a strong desire to work with young children skillfully.

    Have a nurturing and friendly personality and show love and respect for children and adults.

    Be able to work as a member of a team and be willing to communicate openly, problem-solve, and assist other teachers. Also, to adhere to functional boundaries, setting aside personal goals for the team’s and organization’s broader goals.

    Problem-solve relational and curricular challenges with staff and director.

    Be willing and proactive to provide all paperwork for state licensing requirements (including all relevant forms provided by the director, proof of vaccinations, mandated reporter training, etc.). Employment is dependent upon a clear Livescan and other state screenings.

    Responsibilities

    Develop, plan, and implement age-appropriate activities to meet the needs of children in physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual development. Teachers lead classroom set-up plans, engagement with children in Free Choice, Circle, Small Groups, outdoor activities, and individual observations and assessments (formal and informal).

    Support the overall goals of the program and follow all relevant policies and procedures of the school.

    Take an active part in: making copies, shopping for specialty items, locating needed materials, and turning in receipts as needed for reimbursement promptly.

    Coordinate curriculum activities with the staff and in accordance with the school calendar, themes, and special events.

    Ensure children are safe and supervised at all times.

    Interact with children according to our philosophy- in a respectful manner that is calm, nurturing, patient, and loving.

    Intervene in children’s behavior with positive, respectful techniques, including clear and positive statements, offering choices, giving natural and logical consequences, and using appropriate problem-solving steps.

    Participate in school special events.

    Maintain confidentiality.

    Build positive relationships with children and families, expressing God’s love and meeting needs as appropriate.

    Education

    Teachers are required to have a minimum of 12 ECE units. An Early Childhood Certificate or Child Development Associate Credential are preferred. Alternatively, 3 units in each of the following courses may be included:

    Early Childhood Education

    Child, Family, and Community

    Early Childhood Program and Curriculum

    Experience working with young children is also preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    Teachers need to be in good health (verified by Health Screening Report), physically able to lift up to 30 lbs., kneel to a child’s level, in addition, teachers need to have a recent negative TB test (within a year), verification of MMR, dTAP, and flu shots (flu shot may be waived with a letter stating the teacher declined to have it), and be mentally and physically capable of providing satisfactory care and safety for the children in our program.
