    Principal Objective:

    Under the direct supervision of the SACC Program Manager, Swim & Gym Counselors are responsible for the safety, supervision, and activity planning for campers. They lead safe structured activities that encourage and help the campers grow. Swim & Gym Counselors are leaders, modeling behavior and reflecting Swim and Gym’s Mission, Vision, and Values for our community.

    The Counselor will collaborate and work with the other Counselors to deliver excellent class instruction involving all campers equally while following the daily Swim & Gym schedule. They will develop positive relationships starting with their team, campers and within the PCC community. Ultimately, the Counselor will strive to know and value their Swim & Gym community, promote positivity and inspire students to become the best versions of themselves.

    Job Summary:

    A Swim & Gym Counselor’s primary duties include:

    Leading and providing the best classroom experience for students, grades TK-6th (ratio of 1 counselor : 14 campers).

    Developing positive relationships, knowing and valuing campers by name.

    Encouraging campers to explore their faith in God.

    Engaging campers in both team and individual activities.

    Helping campers to develop strong wellness skills (physical fitness, social, emotional, nutritional, and spiritual).

    Provide constructive feedback and make us better.

    Program Development & Implementation:

    Ability to work as a team and implement fun, engaging developmentally appropriate activities through the Swim & Gym curriculum/activities in your classroom

    Responsible for immediately reporting and documenting any and all injuries or incidents to the SACC Program Manager

    Helps support and maintain cleanliness and up to date inventory in classroom areas; including the upkeep of the equipment and facility in an acceptable manner and the set-up and breakdown during the program day

    Communicates with Office and Counselor teams, parents, and other PCC staff on a regular basis

    Communicate and stay up to date with Swim & Gym communications and calendar

    Develop rapport and build positive working relationships with the Swim & Gym team, campers, parents, and PCC staff

    Ability to lead and participate in all Swim & Gym activities, monitor safety, participation and behavior, while implementing activities in an encouraging manner

    Communicate effectively and in a professional manner with the Swim & Gym team, campers and parents on a regular basis regarding program activities and camper experiences

    Staff Development:

    Develop leaders who develop leaders who develop leaders: Lead, mentor, support, and manage your campers so they can encourage each other to be better versions of themselves and create a team atmosphere

    Strive to achieve the Swim & Gym mission, vision, and values, and the 3R’s culture (Reputation, Relationships, Reflect)

    Attend and actively participate in Swim & Gym Bonfires and Campfires

    Attend Fireside meetings with your Supervisor

    Achieve team and individual monthly goals, helping us towards our program and organizational goals

    Staff Member:

    Establish, maintain, and strengthen collaborative working relationships

    Provide feedback to continually improve processes and communications

    Follow all Swim & Gym and PCC policies and procedures

    Actively participate in organization-wide activities as required (i.e. staff retreats, team meetings, trainings, etc.)

    Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Program Manager

    Requirements:

    High school Degree required and at least 18 years old

    TB Testing

    Available full-time from June through August, Monday-Friday

    Be outdoors for the majority of the time, wearing mandatory protective equipment for sun exposure (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc)

    Stand and move around 90% or more of the workday

    Able to lift and transport up to 30 pounds of equipment

    This job requires setup and breakdown of equipment throughout the day

    Provide energy and enthusiasm on a daily basis

    Qualifications:

    Bay Area resident

    A minimum of 0-1 years of relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience (please include experience in management or a relevant field)

    Ability or willingness to engage, equip, and empower a group of children

    Passion for working with children

    Enthusiastic, teachable, shows full participation during meetings and training

    Excellent organizational and time-management skills

    Understands children's day camp activities, children's bible topics, and safety of working with children

    Ability to work independently, take initiative, and work well with others in a team environment

    Courteous, strong communication skills, attentive to others, patient, and comfortable giving progress reports to parents

    Punctual, wears proper work attire, has a positive attitude, excellent attendance, and uses appropriate language with campers and staff at all times
