  • Responsibilities

    Principal Objective

    During After School Camp, we hold Bible Time once a week. We rotate through many different activities, to learn about stories and themes from the Bible. We strive to provide an inclusive and well-rounded experience for our campers.

    The Bible Time Assistant brings a lively, fun, outgoing attitude to camp. It is important to motivate the kids and counselors by being visibly excited about Bible Time (BT), answering questions confidently and enthusiastically, and bringing light and life when interacting with kids. The Bible Time Assistant is invested in finding ways to encourage campers to explore their faith in God.

    Knowledgeable: Understands children's day camp activities, children's bible topics, and safety of working with children.

    Customer service: Courteous, strong communication skills, attentive to others, patience, and comfortable giving progress reports to parents.

    Professionalism: Punctuality, proper work attire, positive attitude, excellent attendance, and uses appropriate language with campers and staff at all times.

    Experience: 1+ years of experience working with kids in a camp setting. Experience working in faith-based curriculum preferred

    Education: High school degree or equivalent.

    Physical Requirements

    Able to stand and move around a large area for up to four hours at a time.

    Able to lift and transport up to 30 pounds of equipment.

    Principal Roles and Responsibilities

    Weekly meetings to discuss any questions about execution of BT that week, and give notes/suggestions from last week’s BT.

    Use of Google Drive, Google Calendar, Zoom/Google Meet/FaceTime, Spotify, YouTube, etc.

    Gathering and organizing materials for weekly BTs, including printing resources for host and counselors, organizing game show and response time materials, and sometimes writing instructions/coming up with small games.

    Setting up weekly BT, including stage, resources for groups (folders, game show items, beach games items, etc.), response time, or anything else for that week.

    Physical execution of BT:

    Reading from skeleton script to translate information to audience (in an engaging and enthusiastic way)

    Explaining and leading BT activities (games, response time, gameshow, etc.) to audience efficiently and effectively (includes knowledge of activities to be able to answer questions)

    Leading BT songs by dancing and singing with enthusiasm and encouraging counselors and campers to as well

    Enforcing BT rules for counselors and campers

    Communicating with anyone who is physically helping out with BT: counselors who are participating, sound person, speakers, etc.

    Cleaning up and maintaining organization of worship center, behind stage, desk, and any other BT spaces.

    Knowledge of each month’s theme, story, design, etc. to be able to answer questions from counselors and kids and exemplify and embody the theme.

    Bringing a lively, fun, outgoing attitude to camp: motivating the kids and counselors, being visibly excited about BT, answering questions confidently and enthusiastically, and bringing light and life when interacting with kids (dancing, playing music, making little games with them, bringing your own personality into it!)
