    POSITION MISSION: To facilitate the delivery of programming that offers growth and significant progression for youth during the summer experience.

    REPORTING AND RELATIONSHIPS

    As the Performing Arts Instructor, you will  report to the Director of Camp Programs and provide supervision to counselors and program assistants assigned to assist in performing arts programming.

    POSITION AVAILABILITY

    As the Performing Arts Coordinator will be expected to work hours from 7:00am to 9:00pm on a typical day and additional hours when necessary. The standard work week is 6 days. In this position, you will live at resident camp (Lake Valley Camp) during the summer and share living quarters with other employees.

    You will  also be expected to attend a mandatory two weeks of staff training at the Resident Camp prior to the start of the first summer session.

    BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

    Ensure that participants and employees are in a safe and healthy environment while participating in your program area as well during general camp activities. This includes the physical and emotional environment.

    The Performance Arts Instructor is responsible for the creating, planning, and implementing all PA programming, these also including supporting theme weekend activities. Performance Art Instructor will also support cabins when needed or if a cabin needs an additional staff member.

    Train staff in performing arts practices and procedures; Provide regular feedback to counselors and program assistants while they are working in your program area.

    Actively participate and assist in the preparation and implementation of camp, including All Camp activities, staff training, bus duty, inventory/clean-up and more.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    You believe that with the right supports and access to quality programs and experiences, all young people are able to achieve at the highest level imaginable.

    You have strong theater performance or arts experience, either in technical or performance aspects. You might also have special skills or training in an arts discipline: stage combat training or certification, dance, photography, comedy forms, playwriting, scenic design, costume design experience, etc.

    You are highly energetic with an ability to work independently and maintain a strong dedication to partnership and teamwork.

    You are calm under duress and able to make critical decisions in a quick and logical manner to minimize risk and to ensure the safety and well-being of participants and staff.

    CERTIFICATIONS

    CPR and First Aid license and certification preferred.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma/GED required.

    You have previous experience working with youth, paid or volunteer and experience with the arts: performance or technical aspects.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

    You must be physically and mentally able to meet the challenges of navigating and working in a remote, natural resident camp setting. Summer camp jobs are seasonal and hours are irregular, including nights and weekends. Employees must have the ability to maintain a positive attitude under adverse conditions (i.e. hot weather, rainy weather, long days, being woken up at night by campers, etc.). Must be able to work outside for sustained periods of time.
