    Job Description

    Looking for a motivated Test Engineer to join our small team working on vacuum metrology devices used in the booming semiconductor-manufacturing industry. This individual will take ownership of developing and executing a variety of test scripts controlling our in-house vacuum calibration and test equipment. After test script execution, large amounts of data mined from a database are formatted using your Excel and SQL skills for performance data analysis. Additionally, working with the software, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams, the successful candidate will take responsibility for ensuring that sophisticated vacuum calibration systems are operating within specifications and suggest necessary remedies as needed. This is an exciting opportunity to exercise your detail-oriented engineering skills while learning high-vacuum technologies in a fast-paced cross-functional engineering environment.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

    • Development and execution of test scripts to control vacuum control systems for the purpose of supporting R&D and manufacturing efforts calibrating highly sensitive vacuum metrology devices
    • Mine data collected during testing and format into usable formats to enable responsible team members to assess performance of the devices under test. Data analysis duties will increase with experience.
    • Present and explain test results to internal and external audiences
    • Collaborate with the lead software engineer in the setup and configuration of software-controlled vacuum control system
    • Take ownership of the various vacuum calibration systems to ensure they are operating within specification and trouble shoot to identify malfunctioning hardware components within the systems
    • Assist colleagues with reporting, query, and scripting needs
    • Graphing data in a multitude of formats including Excel and Matlab (or Octave)

     

    Qualifications

    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • Previous test engineering experience is a must

    • Expertise in Excel a must.

    • Familiarity with SQL queries

    • Expertise in Matlab / Octave highly desirable. PowerBI a plus

    • Experience with Labview programming a plus

    • Must have a scientific / technical mindset and be open to learning many new things

    • Personal multitasking and ability to prioritize tasks a must

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with oftentimes rapidly changing priorities

    • Must be able to communicate well and quickly write reports for internal and external consumption

    • Must be a team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Vacuum measurement and production experience are not required, but you must be willing to learn this skillset

     

    Required Education/Experience

    • BS or BA degree in one of Software / Electrical / Mechanical engineering or a related field
    • 5+ years experience and demonstrated ability to design, implement, administer, and write test scripts for R&D and manufacturing environments
    • Proficiency of MS Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Work in a fast-paced dynamic office and manufacturing environment with other department staff, utilizing a computer workstation and various software applications
    • Strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and quickly respond to questions from groups of managers, engineers, and production staff.
