    Job Description

    DESCRIPTION: This entry to mid level position in Material Control effectively plans and implements internal and external procurement activity for prototype, R&D and Surface Mount (SMT) production area requirements in an AS9100 certified environment and with conformance to the Dytran Quality Management System. Using MRP and a solid understanding of supply and demand, plans, coordinates, and implements activity to support engineering and research and development programs from inception to full production release. Creates and releases prototype, engineering-built work and SMT orders. Creates and advises Engineering requestor when assembly kits are complete and ready for engineering development projects

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Reviews Sales Orders requirements against current demand and work in process using the Material Requirement Planning Report.
    • Planning ownership of SMT process, SMT planning prioritization, SMT production area Make/Buy decisions as it relates to SMT Capacity and inventory needs
    • Coordinates with MRP team (Supply Chain, Production Planning) to define production needs of SMT production area
    • Coordinates with Engineering in a timely manner to ensure Engineering needs of planned SMT builds are identified and addressed to enable production schedules to be met and maintained
    • Creates Work Orders for product and SMT area to generate inventory from stock room. Identification of shortages, coordinates with Supply Chain for status to reconcile shortages, and provides status to kit requestor
    • Provides requirements for MS utilizing “PICK” data to Supply Chain Buyer/Planner; responsible for updating “PICK”, data provided to MS Buyer/Planner for integration into overall MS schedule. Provide in-person weekly update to Engineering personnel on status of all Engineering machine parts in queue.
    • Creates or delegates the creation of assembly kits for newly-designed products and to support R&D projects to schedule goals.
    • Creates and releases work orders in MRP system to support prototype and R&D assembly work.
    • Provides weekly status updates on all planning and procurement activity to engineering management or as needed for critical identified items.
    • Attends to non-conforming and obsoleted, unreleased material. Work with Configuration management on material disposition of Engineering stockroom materials based on obsolescence. Ensure obsoleted, unreleased materials are purged from stockroom on a regular basis
    • May expedite prototype assembly or SMT kits throughout the assembly process. Closes work orders, with disposition of material, and stores prototype documentation to ensure configuration management.
    • Assists in the transfer-to-production process.
    • Special Projects as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

    • Associate degree and 3-5 years of experience in a production planning/materials controls function preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience such as a broad manufacturing background.
    • Knowledge of MPS/MRP scheduling systems is a must. Experience with multi-level BOM’s
    • Previous experience planning in a PCBA manufacturing environment highly desirable
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, Project Planning, Word and Outlook
    • Inventory Control knowledge, manufacturing and assembly experience
    • Technical background and aerospace experience are a plus
    • Solid verbal and written communication skills
    • APICS certification a plus
    • Thrive in a fast-paced work environment
