    IN-HOUSE PROGRAM COORDINATOR POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Position Title: In-House Program Coordinator

     

    Reporting Relationship: Program Manager

     

    Supervision: Associate Program Coordinators, and Interns

     

    FLSA Status: Exempt, Full Time, Salary

     

    Position Overview: Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, the In-House Program Coordinators are skilled, trained and caring adult women who, through youth-adult partnerships, facilitate experiential activities in a girl-only safe space. PEARLS groups provide a space for girls to talk, to be heard, to express fear, joy and anger, to dream bigger, to explore the world around them, and to build trust. In-House Program Coordinators are responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of PEARLS programming and related activities – ensuring program objectives and outcomes are met.  In-House Program Coordinators work in collaboration with community partners and other youth serving organizations to provide the girls with as many positive experiences and opportunities as possible. In-House Program Coordinators supervise and coach Teen Facilitators, Associate Program Coordinators, and Interns. EARN A $500 SIGN-ON BONUS!

    Salary Range: $38,000-$43,000 based on education and experience. 

    In-House Program Coordinators, while facilitating PEARLS programming and curriculum, will be primarily located at a site partner’s location. 

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    Programming:

    • Using the PEARLS for Teen Girls published curriculum, In-House Program Coordinators design

     

    and implement group sessions, which meet based on the culture and needs of the Site 

    Partner.  Group sessions are designed in partnership with PEARLS Associate Program 

    Coordinators, and/or college interns and PEARLS girls when applicable. In-House Program 

    Coordinators design group discussions and activities that ensure PEARLS programming 

    objectives and outcomes are met. 

    • Assist the girls in setting SMART goals for themselves, and apply best practices of youth

     

    development as girls identify and work toward their goals.  

    • Provide ongoing support and encouragement to participants and creatively celebrate their

     

    successes. 

    • Work in partnership with site locations and partner organizations to recruit and retain girls for

     

    the PEARLS program.     

    •  Work in partnership with PEARLS staff and PEARLS girls to ensure maximum attendance and

     

    successful implementation of all PEARLS events.  

    •  In collaboration with Partnerships and College and Career Readiness department, provide group and one-on-one resources to girls regarding secondary or post-secondary education, tutoring, career exploration, and self-development.     

    • Facilitate sexual health, STD and pregnancy prevention curriculum. 

    • Facilitate substance abuse and violence prevention curriculum. 

    • Assist with additional resources for girls, as required. 

    • Provide one on one and small group support for girls outside of group as needed 

    • Work closely with Associate Staff and/or college interns to ensure quality programming is provided.  

    • In collaboration with Facilitation Coach, support Associate Staff and Interns in implementing best practices for group facilitation. 

    • Review of programming metrics, analysis of trends and information to improve programming. 

    • Responsible for joining and actively participating in inter-departmental committees. 

    • In collaboration with Partnerships and College and Career Readiness Department, assist with planning and supervision of field trips/special opportunities, as needed. 

    • Substitute for groups as needed.

      

    Site Partner Collaboration: 

    • Develop positive relationships and actively engage with school staff as a means of supporting girls growth and development. 

    • Participate in agreed upon professional development opportunities, to include any opportunities geared toward school culture, welcoming students back to school, and/or events for students, families, and/or staff. 

    • Adhere to all mutually agreed upon communication and reporting protocols. 

    • Meet regularly with site partner and other key staff to discuss progress and/or needs for

     

    course correction. 

    • Provide relevant information to parents and/or appropriate staff members regarding girls in

     

    real time. 

    • Incorporate school culture and expectations in the PEARLS classroom and during group

     

    sessions. 

    Administrative:

    ·       Participate in the recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of Associate Program Coordinators, and/or college interns.

    ·       Participate in professional development of Associate Program Coordinators, and Interns.

    ·       Train Associate Program Coordinators, and Interns on survey completion.

    ·       Approve timesheets submitted by Associate Program Coordinators.

    ·       Provide one-on-one meetings with direct reports.

    ·       Complete paperwork, trainings and other necessary duties as it relates to interns.

    ·       Budgetary responsibility for assigned programming areas (activities, resources, needs)

    ·       Assist in the tracking and updating of the PEARLS model through documentation and entry of data in regards to programming including but not limited to; attendance, academic achievement, and goal setting information using the current prescribed PEARLS method.

    ·       Responsible for monitoring data connected to groups (number of girls served in group, number of girls retained, number of contracts submitted, number of girls on track for their goals) and creatively create solutions to improve and grow programming.

    ·       Other duties as necessary and or assigned.

     

    Qualification Requirements / ADA:

    Education and Experience:

    A bachelor’s degree in related field; or associates degree plus two years of youth work and/or facilitation experience; or five years of youth work and/or facilitation experience is required. Areas of discipline preferred are: education, psychology, sociology, or related field. Experience volunteering and/or solid internships with high-risk populations. Experience should be with diverse people and issues. Supervision experience preferred. 

     

     Essential Qualifications:

    ·       Strong facilitation, verbal and written communication skills are mandatory

    ·       Flexible with an ability to work evenings and some weekends 

    ·       Accessible to PEARLS girls, staff, partners, and parents by use of work phone or personal cell phone (Cell phone reimbursement given)

    ·       Well organized and able to meet deadlines for reporting, record keeping, and documentation. 

    ·       Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with frequent interruptions. Must be willing to work in a fast pace environment

    ·       Ability to work independently as well as within a team context to achieve program and organizational goals/outcomes  

    ·       Knowledge of the theories of adolescent development and of family and social interaction  

    ·       Knowledge of community resources for families and adolescents & active participation in consortiums that provide opportunities to identify resources for girls and/or collaborative opportunities

    ·       Knowledge of mandated reporting

    ·       Team building, negotiation and mediation skills.  The ability to navigate and guide youth through situations that may be sensitive in nature

    ·       Ability and desire to serve as a positive role model within the community and to program participants 

    ·       Knowledge of communication with the ability to make sound decisions when necessary

    ·       Ability to proactively recognize and resolve issues and problems before they occur and the ability to quickly and efficiently solve issues and problems when they arise    

    ·       Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality 

    ·       Ability to work and be comfortable with a population that is economically, socially, spiritually, culturally, ethnically, and physically diverse 

    ·       Ability to work in neighborhoods where socioeconomic conditions may contribute to undesirable conditions or situations 

    ·       Valid Wisconsin driver’s license, with reliable and insured transportation

     

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure guidelines and fiscal reporting requirements. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to generate reports for use by others. Ability to speak effectively before groups of youths, adults, and professionals in person, via email, or phone.

     

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to perform basic high school mathematical operations. Ability to complete service delivery statistical reports. Ability to complete basic financial activities, including billing procedures and budget maintenance. Ability to operate and have working knowledge of basic computer software, including word processing and Excel.

     

     

    Other Skills and Abilities:

    Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality. Ability to work with non-judgmental attitude in a population comprised of diversity in gender, socio-economic and ethnic group, sexual orientation, and physical or mental abilities. Ability to work within the parameters of the program and be able to work in an environment where there is frequent exposure to stressful/critical situations. Ability to frequently use standard office equipment.
