Job Description:
The is a position for English Writing & Composition instructor. The candidate must have documented experience teaching college level writing and composition classes. The instructor will be teaching almost exclusively from a live, online, virtual classroom environment. Technical acumen in a computer environment is required. Ability to teach from a computer is required. Flexibility in work hours is a must as students may be taking classes from a wide geographic area in almost any time zone.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in English Literature or English Composition from an accredited university or master’s degree in a related field plus 18 graduate hours in English Literature or English Composition;
Candidates must be dedicated to excellence in teaching and committed to high academic and professional standards;
Must be prepared to work with students with a diverse range of backgrounds, abilities and ages.
Minimum of two years teaching English writing and composition at the university or Community College level.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience working with international students in US colleges
Experience teaching online courses.
Required Skills:
Proficient using Microsoft Windows 7 and 8
Proficient at Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Teaching non-native English students in an ESL setting
Flexibility in adapting teaching style to an online environment
Competent operating in an online, virtual classroom environment
Basic ability in curriculum development, syllabi creation and lesson plan preparation
Communication skills for students, outside vendors, internal team members
Candidate must be able to track details at a granular level
Candidate must have the ability to multitask
Candidate must be able to work as part of a team
Candidate must be able to work in a flexible and growing environment
