    DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

    PG&E's Electric Business Operations team is responsible for providing direction and coordination across Electric Transmission, Distribution, and Asset Management. Aligning operations and our people with the Electric execution organizations facilitates better planning, execution, and overall service delivery. The Business Operations organization owns and directs several processes including Electric T&D Integrated Planning, Regulatory Filings, and the facilitation of a $8B dollar annual expense and capital budget.

    Our department, Work & Resource Portfolio, supports these goals through the following workgroups:

    • Work Readiness, Reporting, & Coordination

    • Workforce Strategy & Resource Mgmt

    • Portfolio Management & Change Control

    • Work & Resource Planning Initiative

    Our Portfolio Management & Change Control function works with line of business portfolio managers and leaders to manage budgets and expectations toward completion of our annual Electric Operations work plans, across various capital and expense budgets, while seeking to eliminate risk and improve operations.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    This position will have responsibility for managing the Electric Operations Change Control process and related activities, with several colleagues. Our dynamic budget management activities entail coordination of change requests with clients, collaboration with Finance and Investment Planning for context and prioritization, and development of financial models for handling structured and unstructured data. This position will also support developing process and system improvements to expand our Transmission Integrated Change Control program to our Distribution portfolio.

    A successful candidate:

    • Utilizes SAP as well as in-house Portfolio Tracker (Excel and SQL database with VBA) to manage portfolio/work plan data. Also drives adoption of new planning systems and processes.

    • Creates data models in Excel and other tools to transform multiple data sets into intelligence models that can be used on an ongoing basis to monitor process performance and adherence.

    • Collaborates with stakeholders to plan and track the execution of work related to the work portfolio.

    • Establishes methods, tools, and templates to collect data from leadership, Finance, Project Management, Operations, and other stakeholders for analysis.

    POSITION LOCATION FLEXIBLE - SAN RAMON, SAN JOSE OR ROCKLIN

    For non San Ramon based employees, travel to San Ramon 1-2x per month will be expected when in-person activities resume. (Up to 10% travel)

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Owns the monthly governance cycle / process for the Electric Operations portfolio including but not limited to: financial and data analysis and reporting, facilitation of meetings and exchanges with Finance partners, monthly variance commentary, and presentation of the final assessment data to executive leadership.

    • Drives annual budget adherence for portfolio programs by administering the financial change request process and ensuring change requests are submitted, reviewed, and revised in a timely manner. Reviews risks (overspend) and opportunities (underspend) and evaluates probability to advise on overall impacts to the portfolio financial assessment (end of year forecast).

    • Works with EBO Investment Planning, Line of Business Portfolio Managers, and Various Programs to administer a financial offset / trigger / lever process to deprioritize lowest priority spending and support a dynamic but balanced budget.

    • Applies subject matter expertise to wide-ranging planning processes and challenges. May be assigned to work on annual, long-range plans, or a combination. Works independently on projects and issues of large scope and high complexity, requiring evaluation of abstract variables.

    • Develops recommendations regarding new or better reports or tools based on assessment of stakeholder needs, trends, strategic direction, and organizational priorities.

    • Leads peers and stakeholders to develop prioritized and optimized long-range and/or annual portfolio/work plans for multiple work categories. Gains buy-in and confirms plans can be executed with stakeholder organization(s).

    • May lead special initiative project teams as work planning subject matter expert. May assist with some IT related enhancement discussions. Collaborates with team members on most effective field rollout of process, tool and/or reporting changes.

    • Monitors, prepares regular reports and presents status to senior management. Organizes and leads cross functional stakeholder meetings to review analysis of resource plans, gaps in plan and financials/budgets. Discusses and recommends solutions.

    • Participates in and may lead cross-department continuous process improvement efforts to improve efficiencies and quality.

    • Presents solutions to management and influences resource planning decision making which may include: using contract labor, shifting resources, or changing timing of work.

    • Will support PG&E emergency operations activations by training for and performing emergency response duties at the Emergency Operations Center, regional, or local emergency centers.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum:

    • Bachelors Degree in business, technical field or equivalent related experience

    • 7 years of total related experience such as integrated or strategic portfolio/work planning in an electric utility or related field

    Desired:

    • Demonstrated Power User of Microsoft Excel and associated analytic tools such as Pivot Tables, Macros (Visual Basic), charts, slicers, etc.

    • Demonstrated experience working with large tabular data sets with strong data modeling skills

    • Advanced data analysis skills, knowledgeable in collecting data, organizing, synthesizing, reporting, recognizing trending and anomalies, drawing conclusions, and developing recommendations.

    • Advanced knowledge in project/work scheduling concepts, methods, and practices.

    • Knowledge of electric utility construction processes and practices.

    • Thorough understanding of business and or industry drivers to help influence decision making.

    • Strong knowledge of capital budgeting processes and methods.

    • Project management skills, demonstrable experience, and / or PMP certification.

    • Team leadership and effective collaboration skills.

    • Influence and negotiation to gain agreement from various stakeholders.

    • Knowledge, appreciation, and consistent usage of the Oxford comma.

    • Advanced technical skills using systems and applications such as SAP Work Management, SAP Business Warehouse (BW), Access, Excel, and PowerPoint to develop reports, analyses, and deliver presentations

    • Interest in new systems and methodologies to support PG&Es digital transformation.
