    DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

    The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response. 

     

    The Major Projects & Programs, Wildfire Work Delivery team specifically focuses on overseeing and managing the execution of PG&E’s significant portfolio of electric asset-based Wildfire Risk Mitigation activities including system hardening, equipment replacements and new device installations to reduce PSPS impacts.

     

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Business Analyst is responsible for research, data analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting in support of work tracking, decision making, strategy and business operations related to Wildfire Risk Mitigation workstreams.  This position will also be involved in supporting the Lean business model used across PG&E and particularly in the Wildfire Risk Mitigation efforts.  Lastly, this position will help with business process improvement, quality control / management and other special projects and initiatives to support Major Projects and Programs (MPP), Electric Operations and Wildfire work.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Data Analysis: Compiles and analyzes data. May develop and/or maintain data models for what-if analysis and for other business purposes.
    • Metrics and Reporting: Develops and tracks business metrics. Develops and maintains standard, custom, and ad-hoc reports including “Dashboards” and Lean Visual Management boards.
    • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develops independently or works with program managers to develop budgets, forecasts, and cost projections.
    • Research: Researches trends and best practices; identifies issues and finds solutions; develops internal and external benchmarks in support of business decisions. Develops innovative data solutions to address complex business issues. Presents findings and proposed recommendations to leaders.
    • Quality Assurance & Business Process Improvement: May perform quality assurance and business process improvement activities in support of the business. Activities may include developing, managing, or coordinating performance or quality assessment, data tracking and monitoring, business process re-engineering, change management, communication, and training.
    • Project Management: may lead projects, determining scope, budget, timeframes, forming teams, assigning tasks, managing resources and issues.
    • Communication and team-work:
      • Applies advanced knowledge and experience to wide- ranging issues
      • Understands and synthesizes complex data and issues to communicate across diverse teams and audiences to work together to resolve issues
      • Works with and leverages relationships with Directors and Managers across functions / PG&E
      • Manages cross-functional projects or initiatives.
      • May provide direction and coaching to other teammates and Business Analysts.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    MINIMUM:

    • Bachelor of Science in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience required
    • Six (6) years of related work experience

     DESIRED:

    • MBA or graduate degree
    • Extensive knowledge of different analytical methods, approaches, and tactics
    • Hands-on experience with dashboards or other visual management tools including Power BI or AO for Office.
    • Creative problem-solving skills to develop solutions
    • Strong analytical, communications and writing skills to communicate findings and create compelling business cases based on complex business environments and inputs
    • Influence skills to effectively gain buy in from leaders inside and outside of the department Knowledge and understanding of key drivers affecting business results
    • Program and/or project management skills to lead large and complex projects working with cross-functional teams
    • Organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
    • Adaptable to changing business conditions and ambiguity
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (especially with Excel), Project, or similar software
    • Process mapping experience using Visio or iGrafx
    • Experience with SAP system and extracting data from the system
